I'm considering going with a smaller wheel (for more sidewall height, to air down for off-roading). I currently have the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs in 275/55-20. Will 17" wheels fit my rig? I seem to recall reading something about 17s not fitting because of the brakes in the EcoDiesel. I might have to go with 18s. I searched a little but could not find that info.
Hmmm, not sure if the rears are vented. I see two things described below.
There are no holes cross-drilled through the rear rotors, so does that mean my rear brakes are not vented?
The center "sandwich layer" of the rotor, sandwiched by the smooth royor braking swept area, has slots around its circumference, so does that mean my rear brakes are vented?
I tried to describe this as best I could. Hopefully it's understandable.
Diesels are all vented rotors. The smallest we can go is 18". I vaguely remember hearing that we could do 17" with spacers but I'm not sure how true that is.
Also, the spare tire is on an 18" wheel. That might be another (possible) reason that it must be 18" wheels that are the smallest that can fit, because if 17s would fit, I'd guess that Jeep would have used a 17" wheel for the spare.
