Thanks, helpful! Seems OEM is 3:45/3:09, will need to go aftermarket (if there is availability).

Thx!

Recently picked up a ram 1500 eco-diesel to tow with, came with 3:92's. The ram doesn't have the off-throttle lag my 14 gc, much better off idle throttle, and the new ram is already getting the same fuel mileage as the gc with ~40k on it...

So the reason is better off idle throttle, and to he the gc wheeling. The early throttle dead spot sucks when you are rock crawling with the gc.

YMMV

Re: Final Drive ratio options??

Huh.. never paid much attention to the diesel variant, but wonder why they mate the diesel with the 3.45 axle.. seems counterintuitive with a torquey engine..

My gut says the off-idle response is more related to engine (and/or possibly transmission) controls than the axle ratio.. but I've never driven one..

3.45 already gives you pretty deep lower gears with the 8-speed.
