Fixed the ugly oem 20s

I used PPG brilliant black where the old gray color was and took the face of the wheel all the way down to 1500 grit polished it and used glistenpc clearcoat. I had to use their metal prep on the polished aluminum (per their instructions) and it seemed to give me some slight brush marks, but as I did this in the garage I have some dust in the paint anyways, I've got to wait 4 days for the clear to cure then I can paint the inside and then off to get tires installed, I will update once they are on the jeep.

Nice work. I feel the OE wheels are just too black.

Re: Fixed the ugly oem 20s

Thank you, they should look a whole lot better installed, I'm just a little upset on the polished portion, but I can live with it.

Re: Fixed the ugly oem 20s

Great job, those look awesome! Definitely post back when you get them installed.

ETA: They remind me of the new Trailhawk 20's. Only difference being the polished vs gray face.

Look good, I wish Jeep made rims as nice as Audi or BMW.

I actually wanted to do this with the older ones because of the variation in the spokes, I thought it would look better, but I got a great deal on the forum on these wheels.

Re: Fixed the ugly oem 20s

Nice!

Great minds think alike, back in 2014 I had the pockets on my 2014 0verland wheels colormatched deep cherry.

You can check out my garage for pics I had the insides of each wheel painted as well.

The painter told me to scuff the pockets with 500 grit paper and the face with 1000 grit.

Then painted the pockets and buried everything in 3 coats of clear. This was how the were from factory everything buried in clear coat.
