Full Size Spare on "Compact" Wheel?

I tried to search but could only find threads about wanting to stow a matching 5th wheel and tire in the spare compartment...

I'm trying to find out if the 18" steel wheel that I have (with the full diameter temporary spare tire) is the same wheel that the "full size" tire comes on?

In other words, can I just order the 245/65R18 Khumo tire and mount it to the rim I have in place of the temporary spare??

Re: Full Size Spare on "Compact" Wheel?

I don't believe that it is... it's made for the narrower spare.

Re: Full Size Spare on "Compact" Wheel?

The full size spare is full size in diameter, but is a narrower tire as MDB mentions. That lets the cargo area lid close and the load rating is the same. (which is why it's required/included for/with the factory tow option) You may be able to mount the OEM spare rubber on your wheel...check the specs of the actual tire to see what the wheel width range is for it. If your wheel is wider than the allowable spec, don't do it.
