Full size spare...replacing with OEM ally wheel.

Question:
Is there room to replace the full size (18") steel wheel spare in our JGC, with the spare tire mounted on the stock 18" aluminum wheel?

And do the storage bins fit back OK?

I haven't bought our JGC yet but I prefer to have a spare that has the stock aluminum wheels, rather than a chintzy steel spare !

This way, I can look around on Ebay to see if I can pick one up. I did exactly the same for our Kia Optima. We discovered that we could use a full size OEM alloy provided we removed some rubber spacers the factory stuck to the wheel well floor.

FYI - We also had a "group buy" on the Optima Forum where we negotiated with an Ebay seller who had a set of 4 for sale. We did 4 different transactions with him and he split them up and then mailed each wheel out to the 4 different owners.

Re: Full size spare...replacing with OEM ally wheel.

I successfully did it in my 2011 Overland…18 inch polished aluminum wheel replaced the steel spare and the bins still fit…and the deck lid still "clicks" shut. The mounted tire on the "new" spare is the stock size.
