Full time 4WD lingo

I'm throwing the question out there.

I have a 2014 JGC Overland.

I am new to 4WD in ANY vehicle.

The "book" says that when I am in "auto" that I am in fully automatic 4 wheel drive. But......there is no further explanation.

I have not had a rear wheel drive vehicle since my 1971 Plymouth Road Runner. Beep Beep. I not so fondly remember the days of rear wheel drive and driving on ice and snow, and suddenly having my back end want to become me front end. Is this going to happen with the Jeep in auto? Is it only rear wheel drive until I use one of the Select Terrain settings or what. As with most things, the manual leaves much to be desired.

Re: Full time 4WD lingo

Jeep.com has videos that show how each system works.

But, you are never in two wheel drive in your Overland.

Instead of the rear coming around, you may get a four wheel drift if you mash the throttle on slippery surfaces... but the computer backs off the throttle for you too. The RR had much more torque than todays WK2. Many here complain that the WK2 is no fun to drive in the snow because it just sticks to the road
