What size did you go with?

Also, what did you do for a spare?

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

These are the Goodyear Silent Armor 275/55/20s and the Silent Armor 255/70/18 in the spare tire well. I believe the overall diameter of these tires are 31.9" and 32.1" respectively. To get the cover to close on the spare tire well I had to remove air from the spare.

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

I had these on a ram, had 52 on the truck, swapped out at 100, only due to winter coming and they still had 4/32 on them. They wore fine and were good.

Those look nice on your truck. I have 2 questions:

1. What, if anything did they do to your MPG (and is this measuring against actual miles or odometer miles)

2. How far off is the spedo now? I calculate that you should be going roughly 5% faster than the spedo indicates.

I appreciate your input.

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

Anybody know if/when Goodyear will come out with a direct replacement size in 265/50-20?

The speedometer is out by 4% on my Wife's Overland with P275/55/20 GY Silent Armor. I used my Garmin GPS as well as a government odometer check on the highway.

Do you see any significant degradation to MPG?

Debating between those tires and the LTX MS/2s

Why is it that so many people seem to compare the LTX M/S2 with real all-terrains like nitto terra grapplers and silent armors? The LTX M/S2 is actually more of a highway tire and the A/T2 is an all terrain.

I would agree they are different classes of tires. I don't know which I want. But this is the decision I am making.

Not sure about the MPG, I wanted a tire with the winter rating. We have to many rims and tires in the shed not getting used. (stock Overland 18s anyone?)

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

After mounting these tires I was expecting the speedo to read 3 mph slower than my actual speed. When I checked it against a GPS app on my smartphone, it turned out to be only 1-2 mph slower. I should have checked the speedo with the stock tires....

I also installed a Volant CAI the same week as mounting the silent armors so I can't say how my gas milage changed either. Too much variability here between these mods and engine break-in (under 3K on odometer). In all, I see a slight mpg improvement but I'm sure the tires didn't help. For comparison, I had the silent armors on my 2002 overland with the 4.7HO and lost about 1 mpg over the stock Goodyears.
