Goodyear Silent Armour

Has anyone run the Silent Armour in a 275/55/20 on their GC. I like the rim protection, the BFG ATs i had on my JK were like that. Do they balance well and are they quiet.

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

I run the 17s and they are the best tire I've ever ran on any vehicle. Great traction, great tread wear so far (12k miles) and quiet, though the WK2 has superb sound insulation. Highly recommend them. I couldn't be happier.

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

I have the 18s and am very happy with them. The tire the WK2 with OR group should have come with. Grippy but quiet on the highway.

Can't vouch for the 20s though.

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

I can't talk about 20s as I have 18s but they are nice. I do like the SAs but I like BFG ATs much better for bad conditions. On dry road they are very nice. The BFGs gripped the road better in rain and snow even if they arent rated to not need chains in the snow. I did notice that they are much quieter then the BFGs.

What size 18 silent armors did you go with? You have any photos?

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

I'm interested in the 20's as well and confirming they work fine with the Quadra Lift.

I have the Silent Armors and I love them excellent off road traction especially compared to those Forteras. They are quiet on the highway with nothing more than a slight hum that I got used to within a week of driving. Plus they look good on a WK2 makes it look tougher!
I have the 17" rims and size is 245/70

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

I have the Goodyear Silent Armor 275/55/20s and the Silent Armor 255/70/18 in the spare tire well of my 2012 Summit. I believe the overall diameter of these tires are 31.9" and 32.1" respectively. I had to remove the plastic bins from the spare tire well and to get the cover to close I had to remove air from the spare. That's okay because I carry an electric pump. Anyway, there is no rubbing issues.

I also had these tires on my 2002 Overland and really liked them but on the 2012, I'm having vibration issues despite being road forced balanced twice at DiscountTire with their Hunter GPS 9700. Seems a couple wheels have a lot of weight added and one wheel has weights taped on top of other weights. I've tried changing the cold tire pressure from 34 psi to 36 psi without a reduction in the vibration. Maybe I'll try 38 psi. Now I'm second guessing the vehicle as to whether it needs a 4-wheel alignment or wheel bearing check....

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

Thanks gryemm. Nice to hear they fit. Hopefully you can get that straightened out.

Do you have any pictures of yours?

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

I put the 275/55/20 Silent Armors on my wifes GC Overland. Finding rims was hard but we put Boss 335B in a 20x8.5" with 25mm offset. They balanced well and are quiet. Wifes happy with them. Havn't had it offroad since the new tires but I'm sure they'll be better than stock. My JK gets the offroad abuse anyway. I'll post pictures when I figure out how.

Not the greatest pics, since I had just driven them through a long stretch of gravel roads with the blue factory coating still on, but here are the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor P265/R18 OWL with white out (you can leave the white in if you prefer).

Very happy with them after 4 months and 6,000 miles. Mostly very quiet, especially on the highway, but sometimes a nice whirr on corners at about 40mph.

Re: Goodyear Silent Armour

I ran the 32" R17s on my JK before I traded it for the WK2. Silent Armor is a great tire.
