Got some Toyo AT2 275x65r18 on!!!

Well I decided to take off my oem 20" wheels and tires and add the 18" oem wheels with a taller AT tire.

Went with the Toyo AT2 in 275x65r18 on the LT version 8 ply, the ride is a little bit firmer than stock, the oem 20" kuhmo tires are just too soft. With the Toyos on I can definitely tell that there is some rubber noise from the AT thread.

Ive had the regular Toyo ATs on several trucks and this is my second car with the Toyo AT2 and on my WK2 they are not as silent as the other trucks.

I like the look and ride, haven't take in off road yet, Hunting season will start next week for me, so it will see a lot of off roading during the next couple of months.

Looks good!

I prefer the look of an A/T tire on the GC instead of the 'soccer mom' tires that came on it OEM.

I'm running Goodyear Wrangler A/T tires in the OEM size.
I like the sidewall patterns on the A/T tires.

Re: Got some Toyo AT2 275x65r18 on!!!

Just bought my '11 GC Limited a couple of weeks ago. My 5th Jeep (cj/yj/tj/xj previously), and I planned on putting the Toyo AT II's on there, as they were great tires on my 98 XJ.

A question... At 275, can you fit the spare in properly with the floor laid all the way flat? I had been considering going with a 17x8 wheel, so that I could use 265/70-17 tires, as I have confirmed they will fit in the spare well.

I'm having trouble finding a wheel I like. I like the Trail master TM210, but they are 17x9 and only come in black. Might have to go with the Helldorado wheels. The Black Rhino's are nice, but beyond my price range.

Any insight you can give would be appreciated.

Im currently running the oem spare tire, haven't tried getting a replacement yet.

I would like to eventually replace my oem 18s with the XD Bully 18x9 rims, give them a look, you might like them, they come in grey color or black.

I appreciate the info. I'm trying to retain the normal spare storage. I might look at some of the 18 inch option if they offer them in an 8 inch width so I can stay with 265's. Thanks again!

Re: Got some Toyo AT2 275x65r18 on!!!

While you're waiting on a response from k-mu, I'll share my own experience.

I've had many different Jeeps over the years. I used to run BFG AT KO on my '02 TJ, and they were great, but hydroplaned like crazy.

I even put a set on my '98 XJ Cherokee when I first got it. I finally got tired of the wet road disco, and switched to Firestone Destination AT's. Really good tires, Quiet on the road. Good traction in dirt/mud/gravel/snow, and MUCH better on wet roads than the BFG's. They wore evenly and tracked straight. But they wore out FAST. I thought the first set was a fluke, but I went through 2 sets in 4.5 years. I got about 35K miles out of each set before they were so worn they got scary on wet roads.

Back in October of last year I put the Toyo's on the XJ. What a difference. Not only are they great looking, but the seemed to combine all the best parts of the BFG's and Destinations, without the drawbacks. Quiet. Track straight. Have been wearing evenly. Relativity smooth ride, even though mine are the LT version with stiffer sidewalls. Handle well off road. And, unlike most AT tires, the Toyos actually come with a 60K tread life warranty. I've put over 6000 miles on them so far and I don't have a single complaint.

This pic was from around Christmas, and I had just decked out the roof rack with garland and 12 volt LED Christmas lights. We were taking some friend to the Interlochen Christmas lights show that weekend, and many of the vehicles that drive through that are are also decked out.

After 5k on them I can tell you the jeep rides very nice, amazing grip even on wet roads. I've got the toyo ATs and the BFG ATs on the company trucks, always loved the look and performance of the toyos a little bit better specially on wet roads and mud (they do pretty good for not being a mud tire)

The only downside is that they are loud on the jeep, I don't know why. Ive had this tires on my last truck a silverado and I couldn't hear them, currently running them on my wife suburban and no noise at all even after 40k

Have you lost much power with the bigger tires? Did you put on a leveling kit, or did those tires fit without it?

Tires fit perfect with no lift, haven't notices any rubbing issues, I barely notice a small decrease in acceleration power but it could deb in my mind also...

Never even occurred to me to look at Toyo's as a replacement option, have always gone with Pirelli Scorpions, currently trying a set of Generals (recommended by Merchants Tires)as the stock tires are dead after 25,000,wanted Pirellis again as they are great all season boots. That said,I like the look of those Toyo's,the sidewall traction too, also with your notes on what you said about them, they are definitely a contender, thanks for the input,it's appreciated.

I have a set of (265/65/18) AT IIs on my '11 WK2 and they're wearing like iron. They have over 40K miles on them and have plenty of tread left for the winter. I'm very happy with them and will put a set on my next rig.
