Re: Has anyone used the Bilstein 5100s?

Much better feel on the fronts, bumps don't feel as rough anymore. The front shocks, spacers and brakes all went in the same day so I'm probably feeling a combination of all of those, especially small increase in stance.

We're going on a trail clean up this Sat so that will be a good test.

Re: Has anyone used the Bilstein 5100s?

So $169 for the front shocks, correct? What did shop charge for labor?

Also, what's your rear measurement with the stock setup as compared to the front now? Are you happy with the stance? (Want to make sure the rear doesn't sit lower than the front)

Yep, $169 each and $300 for labor for all the things I requested to be done including alignment.

Below is the rear measurement, still stock and as far as stance... I'm digging it. The more I look at it, the more I get convinced that I need slightly bigger tires lol. Sorry about the pic size.

Re: Has anyone used the Bilstein 5100s?

i just erased what I wrote here, in case you already read it. wasnt apples to apples comparison. my 15 just simply sits higher stock than the 12s.

however, my 12s on leveling kit and 275/55-20s was 35.4front 35.25 rear.

thats with 1.75 total spacer lift and an additional .4 in net tire height added.

Perfect! Looks to be about 3/8" lower in the front. I bet that looks great in person. Nicely done!

Sounds about right, the 275/55-20s on your 2012 is about 1.40" taller than my Cooper Discoverer 245/70-17.

1.4"total, but only a net ride height raise of half of that.... 0.7"

Re: Has anyone used the Bilstein 5100s?

eibyer - can you post full side view of the Jeep now?

Are you planning on returning the 5100 rears? If I were you I would just get those installed, they are going to ride better , not to mention ... not fail like the OEM ones

Re: Has anyone used the Bilstein 5100s?

The Nivomats (load leveling shocks) use a different shock mount. You can buy the parts from MOPAR to convert it, but I'm hoping that Bilstein releases a 5100 that would be a direct fit. I am chomping at the bit to get these in the front of my 2015 Altitude. I was going to just do the 1.25 inch lift as my Jeep sits only about 1.5 inches higher in the back than in the front, and I do NOT want it to sit higher in the front than the back. The ride is good though? As these pre-load the springs I was afraid that it would make the ride stiff, but they're Bilsteins.

From an old post on this forum the below parts should be whats needed to convert the stock Nivmats to the standard style shock mounts:

Shock mount plate P/# 05181844AA
Shock Absorber shield / bellow P/# 68029592AC
Shock mount P/# 68029590AF
Bumper jounce P/# 68029591AC

Attached microfiche. Should be the top three parts above the box, plus the dust boot to the right.
