Help me with tire size

I'm going to pick up a set of Goliath reps soon in 20x9, I'm looking for some input on what a good tire size would be, I'm going to be getting performance oriented tires because this will be my warm weather set up and I don't do any off roading, would a 285/45 fit a 9" tire without a lot of extra sidewall ? I don't need the tires sticking an inch past the wheels.

TIA

295/45/20 will fit perfectly. Same tire as the srt. They shouldn't stick out too much

The SRT wheels are 20x10 though, I don't need a ton of sidewall so I though since their an inch less wide I would go with a 285

That's true on rim size. The most important issue is to keep the height of the tire the same or extremely close to keep your speedo correct.

I have 295/45R20 on Goliath wheels. Very close to stock diameter.

To the OP: Once you've settled on tire size don't forget the spare. Its OD must be the same or extremely close. You may be fine, just be sure to check that.

Re: Help me with tire size

Posting this in a couple different places to try and get as much info and different opinions / ideas as possible. Have a 2011 Overland with Air Suspension, 20" wheels. Looking for a "Summer / Highway" tire in the largest / widest size possible. Tire Rack says don't go with a 55 Height as they will rub turning the steering wheel from stop to stop at the lowest QL setting. Looking for a 275/50R 20 or possibly 285/50R 20 to put on the stock 20" rims. Any thoughts on sizes and tires, Yokohama, Pirelli, Michelin? etc..... Thanks

Help me with tire size

You mean you're posting until you hear what you want to hear.

The difference between the 285 and a 295 is 10 mm of width, or less than 1/2", 1/4" per side. Numerically. The wheel width, which you've already chosen, would make most of the difference you are concerned about. I understand what you're saying about the sidewall bulge, I think you're putting a little bit too much thought into a relatively square tire.

Re: Help me with tire size

LOL, I guess what I'm waiting to hear someone say is; "I'm running 285/50R 20 Yokohama's (or whatever) on stock 20" Overland rims, and they don't rub on the lowest (park) Quadra Lift setting when turning the steering wheel from stop to stop".

So far the widest width I've gotten someone to give me confirmation on is 275/50R 20. Tire recommendations for Highway "Performance" Tires for this vehicle (no snow, off-road, etc.) seem to be all over the place, everyone having a personal preference, although Michelin & Pirelli seem to be favorites.

What if it isn't? In 2 wheel drive it will be ok? Knock on wood never used a spare in 44 yrs of life.
