2011 Overland Summit with the 20" bright polished alluminum wheels... Wife just curbed the passenger side rim pretty good. I searched for and didn't find much help with tips on repairs. I was able to find several sites that discussed how to repair your rim if they are painted, but I don't think using paint on these rims would work very well.
Anyone have any advice or knowledge on repairing a scratched (gouged more like it) rim? Should I scratch (no pun intended) the idea of DIY repair and just take it to a profession? Any ideas welcomed! Thanks!
EDIT: Apologize for the title mis-match. Started this thread and realized they are bright polished aluminum rims, not chrome.
Not sure if this answers your question, but accoring to the Jeep site, they are "bright polished aluminum". They are the standard rims that come with the 2011 Overland Summit. When they're clean and shinny, they have a mirror like reflection.
I'm not sure if that's an easy DIY job but here's a service myself and friends used in the past and they're good. http://www.awrswheelrepair.com/index.html
Not sure if one's in your area but it's worth a shot. Good luck!
I changed the title for you. Hopefully that will get you some more help.
I believe that those rims are painted, which means they have a clear coat finish on them. I could be wrong but according to wk2jeeps.com they call those rims "painted satin cast aluminium". the way one would treat a polished rim is different then a painted one.
Maybe someone else will chime in but for a painted rim, you would need to sand, paint and clear the whole rim to fix that scratch.

The 20" Summit wheels are polished aluminum w/a clear coat sprayed on them.
Limited and Overland 20" wheels are the same shape but have a satin painted finish on them.
