Re: I Want Spacers

What happens when bigger than 1" spacers?
I realize that may change ride characteristics/steering, but what about rubbing?

You're altering the offset and backspacing, which can greatly change things.

Because of my 1.25" spacers, there's no way I could fit a tire any bigger than what I have (30.5") without problems when turning the wheel lock-to-lock. Now maybe with 1" ones, I could, but not sure. It's already extremely close. So 31" tires would be out of the question and who knows how it would be with the 285's.

Did you have to do any cutting to get the 1" spacers to fit?

Pinetar, I'm running 275/55R20's (32") with the Bora 1.25" spacers with no lift or level. The only time I had any rubbing was when I hit an unexpected dip in the road at about 85mph, and that was just a minor rub. Daily driving is fine, lock to lock is fine as well.

Edit to add:

I may have had a rub on a very bumpy sand trail as well, I'm not really sure if it was the tires as I had scuff marks on lower fascia and the 2 little pieces that hang down from it.

Thank you for reminding me, as I forgot to add, I don't have the same stock wheel offset that the WK2 comes with. So that is probably why I have different experiences than you guys and I forget they are about +44 offset as opposed to +56, which makes a difference. There is absolutely no way I could fit a bigger tire without rubbing with this setup.

The 285's with stock offset and spacers may just work then, but it'll be close.

That's about the same as running a 1.75" spacer. I could see that causing some issues. I have actually been thinking about ditching my 1.25's and trying the 1" hoping that may get rid of that slight rub on major dips.

Yeah I wish I would've gone with 1" too, but then I would've had to trim even more from the stock lugs and that was not an option. So I'm just putting up with it for now. I don't have any rubbing problems currently, but would if I had to flex the suspension very much.

One thing is for sure, this set up is not lowering spring friendly, so I'm putting off the drop for a while or possibly not until the next Jeep.

Re: I Want Spacers

I take it spacers will not work on Quadra Lift equipped vehicles?

They will. You just have to take the same precautions as everyone else and be more aware of the exit entry height possibly creating a problem. That's the only difference to my knowledge.

Re: I Want Spacers

Thanks.

Spacers that are greater than 1.25" do not require trimming the lugs or is that all wheel dependent?

I have the 2014 5-spoke 20" wheels on a QL equipped Overland and would prefer not to trim the lug bolts. I would like to go with 1" but have a feeling from this thread that combo won't fly without trimming the lugs.

Re: I Want Spacers

for you guys that are running the larger spacers and rubbing with 32" tires, where exactly are you seeing the rubbing occuring?

I'm currently trying to figure out if 22x10 +45 305/40/22 will fit. I'm looking at 31.5" OD and essentially a 1.4" spacer due to the width/offset. Just seeing where the pressure points are when we start pushing the envelope with wheel and tire size.

Thanks!
