Larger tires on stock 20's

Does anybody know if 285/55R20 will fit on the factory 20's and not rub. They are about 2 inches taller than the stock 265's. Maybe someone can take a peek and see how much clearance they have now.

Re: Larger tires on stock 20's

I had been interested in the same on a set of 18's for AT/winter setup and even thought about a slightly wider footprint. Others suggest going even slightly beyond the stock dimensions will cause rubbing.

My local tire dealer offered to mount up the larger tires and check it out, otherwise they would switch back to original dimensions before rolling out of the shop. They also matched mail order house pricing. I won't get the rig or my wheelset for a couple more weeks but will report back.

Re: Larger tires on stock 20's

depends on exactly what kind of tire. I have 255/75 R17 which are 32in rather then the stock 30.5in. Your 285 being wider and taller will rub. Mine are very tight in the back. Also depends on the sidewall the BFG MT have very little bow in them.

Hmmmm.... So what about 275/55r20? They are about 1.5 inches taller than stock. Im looking at the Hankook dynapro atm rf10, I've heard they are good in the snow, but I don't see them offered in 265's.

What size were you looking at putting on? Do you have the 20's?
