Largest size that will fit on Overland with stock 20" rims

What's the largest size that will fit. I found people running 275/55-20 but the tire I wanted doesn't come in that size. Closest is 275/60-20 or 285/55/20. First is an inch larger diameter (33"), second is pressing the limits on width and half an inch diameter larger than the 275/55-20(31.9").
Thx

Well...as you will prob hear from other members on the forum...there is a wealth of info on here, especially since this topic has been discussed repeatedly...so if you do your homework, and thoroughly search here & on google...you will find the info that you seek, given that the vehicle design has been on the market for nearly a year and a half.

However, you are pretty well stuck with the 275/55/20's (or smaller)...unless you buy aftermarket wheels.

Good luck with your research!!

Thanks guys. Was hoping the 33s wouldn't rub. Oh well. Guess the tire makers will have to catch up with some new sizes.

For anyone with P275/55r20 tires on there overland summit having any tire clearance or rubbing issues? Im interested in the Cooper Discovere AT3's. Tire shop doesnt believe the clearance is there.

Re: Largest size that will fit on Overland with stock 20" rims

It's been confirmed many many many times that the 275/55's will fit without rubbing unless they had some crazy tread design, but I think you're safe with the AT3 sidewall clearance too.

As long as you are running everything stock, they will fit.

I think it depends how you use your Jeep and whether or not you have QL. I believe there is a larger rack front to back on the non-QL and some have expressed some issues with the front fender rubbing a bit. Many have chosen to get the RRO leveling kit to give them a little more room in the front wheel well when going with the 275/55/20 size.

Re: Largest size that will fit on Overland with stock 20" rims

My 2012 Overland Summit has the Air Suspension. If the Cooper Discoverer AT3 P275/55r20s will fit I will be content with this. The Goodyear Fortura, IMO, were never intended to be on vehicles of this type. My traction on snowy/icy roads was lousy. Thanks for your input. clb2

Re: Largest size that will fit on Overland with stock 20" rims

275/55/r20 will fit perfectly on a wk2 overland even with the suspension at the lowest park setting. I have the bridgestone revo 2 AT tires and no rubbing at all. I was honestly wanting to try a 60 profile... which effectively is a 33" tire diameter, but i suspect there would be some rubbing there on the front during hard turns, but might not be a major issue.

A 33" tire without a full lift would be a big issue to use. The 275/55/20 is basically at the ceiling of usable sizes for the stock setup.

From what I understand the rack is more pronounced on the standard suspension and some have rubbing issues in the front if they don't get the leveling kit installed when going to 275/55/20.

Rack or rake?
