Re: Legal Help

They are plastic chromed "wheel skins" for the OEM 18" GC Alloy wheels. They attach with metal clips (that will scratch the painted finish on your alloy wheels and allow corrosion to get a foothold). You can pick up a set on eBay for under $80. If you like them, fine.

Re: Legal Help

yep-you can see how I would be fooled! I think the dealer was too but since I expected REAL chrome wheels I should get some kind of upgrade-I am trying to get them to give me some 20s off a low miles demo.

Re: Legal Help

Are the chrome limited wheels usually chromed aluminum? I know Chrysler has done this alot before with chrome wheels. Where in they just put a chrome plastic cap, held in place by the lug nuts over the actual wheel. Nearly undetectable unless you know what your looking for. Id check to see that they actually offer a chrome wheel and not a chrome "clad" wheel

Re: Legal Help

The Limited wheels are POLISHED-harder to maintain than chrome. The Dodge trucks have the chrome "clad" which I checked out today-they are a glorified non removable skin. Even harder to tell than the skins but still FEEL like skins when you tap on them.

I am trying to get the dealer to spllit the diff and give me $400. he said he would roll back the deal and give me my 04 Rodeo back.

The thing about that is if the bank has not paid the dealer yet (your loan) you have some leverage.

Re: Legal Help

I had an '07 Liberty, bought new, with what were listed as chromed aluminum wheels. The first time I washed the car I noticed the chrome was just a disk covering the wheel. This was how it came from the factory.

Once I got over my surprise, I decided they looked good, were easy to maintain, and continued looking good until the day I got rid of the Jeep.

In the end you have the good looks of a chrome wheel and still have the lower weight of aluminum wheels. Since they looked good when you picked up the car, just enjoy your new vehicle.

To ask for money back for something you didn't pay extra for and for something that's not on your contract seems more emotional than anything else.

Good luck with whatever decision you make. I just hope that you wind up enjoying your new Jeep.

Re: Legal Help

No I actually had to pay more for it. FYI "chrome" wheels nowadays are actually chromed aluminum so still light weight.
But I do have 2 "looks".

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant there was no extra charge to you.

"dealer was shocked that it had Limited Chrome 18" wheels. at no extra charge."

Re: Legal Help

Nah-it was a misunderstandng-I thought I was getting the Off Road Package with QuadraLift-I didnt but that was my fault. But they charged extra for the OR1. So it wasnt the wheels, but I did pay more than expected.

But I agree with you-I am going to swap the skins on and off occasionally for a different look. Plus they just agreed to pay me $400!! I may ask for some things instead like the 5.y HEMI emplem (why isnt on there Jeep? that is why Americans are buying foreign cars!).
They previously agreed to fix the license plate holes in the bumper but it came from Texas which requires it so I may give that up if they agree to honor the warranty with a Diablo/BG ECU tune.

Any easy way to fix the small holes in the bumper?

To fix the holes in your bumper without painting, simply buy two Christmas tree style push in body clips. Paint them body color or leave them black and push them into the holes. The clips have a smooth head on them, and painted body color you would probably never notice unless you're looking for it

Re: Legal Help

I found something like that at Ace Hardware but my dealer is doing it right for FREE!!
They did the ECU Flash too-noticeable difference.
BUT the SM says ANY CAI will void the warranty. I say BS and want to figure out how to call their bluff!

I find that hard to believe since Mopar makes a CAI.
