Lifting a WK2 with TJ Spacers

Someone on this forum mentioned that they used .75" TJ spacers to lift their WK2 in the back. I called RRO and they confirmed that they heard of that being done but wouldn't recommend using Polyurethane spacers because ethe independent suspension puts more force on the spring. Then I found .75" Aluminum spacers for the TJ, made by pro comp.

Can anyone say wether this would or would not work?

It honestly sounds like a terrible idea. Can't pony up a few hundo for a set of springs?

Well I think the OME 2" springs might be the only option and I don't really want to lift it that high because I would have to redo the fronts, They are stiffer springs, handling would suffer if I lift it that high, and the cost.

It's only .75", not so big it would be unstable I don't think. Poly spacers are also supposed to give a better ride when you pet em on.

Should be just enough to be able to install the OME shocks which would give me more useable wheel travel.

Can this be done if the wk2 has Quadra Lift? I have a 2013 overland and would love to get a little bigger tires under her.

I don't think so.

I'm not saying it would be unstable, but the springs are made to fit in the stock spring pocket. Any spacer that is not specifically made for that exact diameter spring, spring wire, and spring pocket is going to be really sketchy.

Plus, solid axle spring setups are way different than independent setups, especially in the front end with struts.

No, you can't space up the airbags. Search the suspension section for adjustable sensor links for quadralift.

Re: Lifting a WK2 with TJ Spacers

Just to make a followup on this. I installed the TJ spacers and put on OME shocks and got about 1.5" lift. I'm amazed I got that much but I did. The springs wouldn't sit right when I put them back in the way the came out so I had to twist them a little. Maybe 90 degrees. When I finally got it in and sitting right it looks good and I haven't had any issues with it. Ride was a little harder in back. I think bc the OMEs have more dampening. When I took it off road it was noticeably smoother and more stable. I think the poly spacers decrease vibration from the coil through the unibody. I was afraid I might get more body roll when raising the back and center of gravity but I think I actually have less with the OMEs than with the bilsteins. I also bumped up the bilsteins in front to 1.75" and added RRO Trim Packers. I'm very happy with everything. Looks Great. The back is about 1" higher than the front but that is fine with me. I'm sure having the back raised will help me when I get a chance to take it off road.
