My 2014 WK2 has quadra trac2. Is there any way,Jeep or aftermarket, to replace the open rear diff with a limited slip? It has the brake BLD system to simulate limited slip, but I'm not sure how well that works as a substitute.
I know that the quadradrive 2 had ELSD, but I'm not ready to buy another vehicle yet and I believe it has to be a V8 to get QD2 anyway.
Your assumption is correct - you need to procure either the V8 or the diesel to get the ELSD & off-road II. Currently there is no factory or aftermarket workaround solution to install a ELSD into a non-equipped vehicle - and I feel your pain. It's a problem I've been addressing as well and hopes to acquire a solution. Wheel brake action works surprisingly well, but there is no substitution for an actual locked axle.
I found a unit from auburn gear for about $650 that supposedly will go in there, provide LS and not affect the other electronics. Part # 5420142. I'm waiting for a call back from their top installer Home Page - JustDifferentials.com to find out more details about what's involved and if it's really a good way to go. According to Auburn, they have practical experience doing this. I will update
False alarm, that unit won't work. I got under there and the differential is like a split case that would have to be completely removed to work on. Not going there...so unless I want a new Jeep with a V8, Brake Differential system is it.
