Loving my Summit, question RE Air Suspension
Bought in September, have a couple of thousand miles on the Summit. Have V6 and am happy with the choice. Was worried the fuel economy and acceleration would disappoint. They haven't! All in all, a trouble free happy purchase.
One thing that I have noticed ( from day 1 ) is that the compressor for the air suspension is quite loud and doesn't sound so good. Not noticeable when driving, after parking, the system must adjust the suspension and when it does ( the engine is off at this point ) it sounds like a $99 air compressor from Harbor Freight. It only runs for a short time.
Question: Is it normal for the compressor to kick in after the power is off?
Question: Is it normal for the compressor to be loud and rattle like a typical air compressor?
I know it is hard to describe sound in an internet post, but if the compressor is bad, I want to get it swapped out. On the other hand if this is normal, I can easily live with it. Just don't know because I have not heard another Jeep with air suspension. We had a MB GL that had air suspension and I don't ever remember it being noisy after parking although it did to some after parking adjustments as well.
Thanks in advance for any comments, and hope you all had a pleasant Thanksgiving ( a week ago... ) and a nice Christmas and New Year - or more simply put Happy Holidays!
