Maxxis Discontinuing Buckshot Mudder

I ordered 4 of the 275/65-18 Buckshots for my 2014 JCG at Onlinetires.com. I saw the online prices creeping up >$200 so I pulled the trigger on them at $200/ea. Dude from Onlinetires called me the next day to say he couldn't get them and would I take the Bighorns instead. I knew they were pretty similar and he knocked a few bucks off for the inconvenience.

I've been running my trucks around the Memphis/Arkansas/Miss area for +20 years and found the Buckshots (and Mudkings) worked best. I like the Interco's, but they seem to be a bit pricey. Darn 18" wheel doesn't keep the cost down either. I've gotten 40k miles from the Buckshots, so I was sorry to hear they are being phased out.

Not sure if the Onlinetire guy was BS'ing me but I sure had a hard time finding many online distributors for the Buckshots so it does seem plausible. Now if I can find a tuner that will allow me to change the tire diameter back & forth between stock, I'd be all set.

Re: Maxxis Discontinuing Buckshot Mudder - Bighorns

Duck season opens in 1 week so I put the mudder rubber on. i kept my stock 18" wheels and put the mudders on it.

OEM Spyder 18" x 8"
Maxxis Bighorn 275/65R18, MT-762
52.029 lbs (measured), $195/ea @ onlinetires.com
Wheel + tire = 86.039 lbs
32" dia, 40psi, nitrogen (stock = 30.5" dia)
Tires seem like they fit pretty good and have ample clearance. The air suspension really lowers the vehicle at park so the pics are a bit misleading. Speedo and ODO will read 4.9% low. 60 mph (57), 80 mph (76). Need those chip guys to hurry up with a programmers.

Just like my Enkei's, the TPS reports 42/43psi when the tire gauge reads 40 psi. Drove it a bit on the road and they seem to ride pretty nice. The shop didn't have a road force balancer, so I'll get the road force balance when its time to rotate. I usually run them until Feb/March.

I'll give a little feedback this weekend putting out decoys if I get into any mud.

Re: Maxxis Discontinuing Buckshot Mudder - Video

Went to the duck blind 111515 and tested the waters, pun intended. Ran through some other pretty gnarly tractor ruts on the field roads and the truck chewed through with aplomb & plenty of power. Used "Mud" 4x4 setting and Off-Road2 height setting on the air suspension. Never had to put it in 4x4Lo. A pic of the Maxxis Bighorn tread and video of a short test run through the flooded field.
