McGard Lug Nuts on 2015 High Altitude

Added McGard Black Chrome Lug Nuts #64072 and locks # 24216.
These look sooo much better on the black High Altitude Wheels.

Re: McGard Lug Nuts on 2015 High Altitude

Got them on Amazon. Too pricey, but I figured McGard is top quality. About $85 for 16 nuts and $40 for the four locks. I also wanted to find some that fit the standard 22mm lug wrench. Many others use different size wrench.

Re: McGard Lug Nuts on 2015 High Altitude

$85 thats steep!

I got mcgard nuts for my jeep way back when and they were maybe $30 for the set on amazon, but they are just plain jane silver ones. They are a necessity if you are running snows and constantly rotating out wheels each season, the horrible 2 piece nuts that come from the factory (Or used to) are trash.

dealers and service stations using impact wrenches should be avoided but you can't exactly control that.

Re: McGard Lug Nuts on 2015 High Altitude

I agree that they are crazy expensive. I got so disgusted trying to find a suitable set that looks good and also uses standard 22mm socket that I stopped looking at the price. At least I know they are top quality.

Re: McGard Lug Nuts on 2015 High Altitude

I spent about $65 on my Gorilla all locking lug nuts in black. I don't feel that's expensive at all.

What's the socket size needed for the Gorilla lug nuts that everyone has been going with?

I went with the Gorilla locks as well. They look great & are well made! I had a set of McGard locks on my '02 Overland & I stripped 3 keys before I could get them off! And these were on a brand new Jeep after 1500 km! Total chinese junk! They are made of cheap metal & they will rust! I would never buy McGard locks nor recommend them to anyone!

You sure you bought Genuine McGard lugs/locks...... They are made in America w/chrome plating guaranteed to not rust chip or peel for life to the original purchaser. I've used McGard chrome lugs on a jet ski trailer submersed in salt water hundreds of times for over 10 years and they still look new.

Sounds like you purchased "Chinese Junk" that you though was genuine McGard but obviously was not.

Either of these Genuine "Black Chrome" 22mm (Same as OEM) McGard Lugs will work for 2011 and up Grand Cherokees;

Re: McGard Lug Nuts on 2015 High Altitude

The McGard nuts and locks take a 22mm lug wrench or socket, same as oem nuts. My HA came with McGard locks from the dealer. The oem lug wrench in your Jeep is 22mm. McGard, if genuine, is made in USA, with lifetime warranty. They look good with the black wheels. These are the reasons I chose them, regardless of price. Consider that you buy a set only once and your life may depend on them doing their job.

No issues with chips/dents when popping the McGards with the lug wrench?

I've used an impact wrench with no problems. Then I read you should never use an impact wrench on them. So... I only use the impact wrench to speed up putting them on an taking them off but not to the extreme. I first loosen with lug wrench, then spin off with power tool. I spin them on with power tool and then tighten with torque wrench set to 100 lb/ft. I hope this helps.
