Michelin Defender LTX vs Premier LTX

Re-shoeing the grand. Split between the Defender and the Premier. Going upsize on the stock 20's to 275/55R20 for the added sidewall.

Been thinking the Defenders, have them on the JKU and think they are pretty good. Smooth and Quiet and handle the rain pretty well, and if definitely seems that this tread pattern is a great example of dont fix what aint broken, I have friends who ran LTX MS for years and wouldn't consider anything else.

I know the Premier is a great tire too and better in the rain but where I live we have some serious broken pavement and potholes, and part of me feels like the defender would be better on that type of terrain just based on sidewall strength. On the other hand I feel like open road interstate that the Premier would be a better tire.

Thoughts for anyone who has experience with both? Price difference is negligible, so want to go with the best fit. How are the defender LTX on the interstate? Do they track well straight line? My JK wanders by design so not a good test of the Defenders.

Another thing, why do the 18's get the Premier stock while 20's come with Bridgestone 422 Ecopia? Seems like to me the Michelin is a better tire, not that the Bridgestone is bad, but its not their top of the line SUV tire like the Alenza. Once again the 18s always get the better tire with the past Michelin Latitude (18" stock) vs the horrible Goodyear HL Fortera (20" stock) on the pre 2016.

Re: Michelin Defender LTX vs Premier LTX

jp', folks hated the Micheline Latitudes that previously were the OEM tire on the 18s nearly as much as the Forteras on the 20s. (I had no issues with the Forteras, personally...and then lasted longer than the Nitto's that replaced them)
