Michelin ltx m/s 2

I just got these for my jeep. Little pricy but nice tires, much improved ride then the latitudes. Got them at discount tire. I got a $150.00 credit for the old latitudes. They were at 4/32 on 30,000 miles. How does everyone like these tires? They good?

Re: Michelin ltx m/s 2

What size?

I'd like them for my 20s but I haven't seen anyone else on here that has them. I'm unsure if they would actually fit. I know the larger size is a tight squeeze.

Re: Michelin ltx m/s 2

Several people on this site have Michelin LTX M/S2's. I switched off my Michelin Latitudes at 9900 miles for LTX M/S 2's in Oct.. Now have 17,200 total miles on vehicle. They are quiet and seem good in the snow, but we did not have winter here in the northeast. We had a very long fall. There are a couple of other threads about LTX M/S 2's. I recommond them for someone who is not doing severe off roading and wants a true 4 season tire.

Re: Michelin ltx m/s 2

Very nice tires, but also very pricey. If they offer better ride than Latitudes, that's good. I think the OE Latitudes ride nice, but look wimpy. I've heard of the original LTX M/S going 90K mi, so that would help justify the price. Michelin also typically has $70 rebates.

Re: Michelin ltx m/s 2

I switched from the Latitudes to the LTX M/S '2s and love them, much better in the snow and I think an all around better tire. They are not meant to be an off-road tire but I have had good luck off-road.

Re: Michelin ltx m/s 2

Same here. I ditched the Latties within a few hours of picking up the vehicle. I've always ran LTX's on my previous Jeeps and had fantastic results. I'm hoping the MS2's will hold up just as good. I bought my WK2 used and have managed to put ~30K on the MS2's so far. Barely a scuff on them, but keep in mind that mine is a V6 4x2.

Re: Michelin ltx m/s 2

There are actually two versions of the ltx m/s2 tires which I finally got straight in my head after thinking I was going crazy.

1. The P metric version that uses the P numbering on the sidewall
2. The Light truck version that uses the LT numbering on the sidewall

The difference is that the LT versions have a stiffer, thicker and more durable sidewall. I believe that it is a 6 ply rather than 4 ply on the P's. This makes the ride a bit more stiff, but much more durability for off-road and side wall puncture.

In my opinion, a huge difference since the only puncture I ever got was through a sidewall from sharp rocks. For non-extreme off-road my LT (light truck versions) m/s2 work great........including snow (providing the tread is still has some meat).

They are great tires and I've been buying them for 20 years now and the life is amazing.

Is anyone actually running these on the 20s? I haven't seen anyone confirm that these do indeed fit.

The LTX MS2 isn't available in the 20" size that I can tell. According to Michelin US, they only have a 275/55 or 275/60 - which would be wider and much taller than the OEM 265/50. They might fit but not as a direct replacement.

Yes. That's what I mean.

I have read others upgrading to slightly larger tires with success but I don't think it's a given that all tires will fit.

There are many members of this forum who have installed 275/55R20 tires on OEM wheels with no fitment or clearance issues. Do a search you'll find the threads. Nitto Tera grapplers and Revo II's in that size come to mind.

Re: Michelin ltx m/s 2

Yes. Fully aware of that. I have searched high and low and haven't seen anyone running the LTX in this size. Everyone says it's a tight squeeze at 275/55R20 and it doesn't seem like a general rule that all tires in that size will fit as there may be some subtle differences by model.
