Michelin Premier MPG Decrease?

I recently put Michelin Premier LTX 265/50/20 on my overland. I just completed a 3 hour drive that I've done quite a few times before.

On the stock forteras I was able to average 26 mpg (sometimes 27). With the new tires I was at 22.7mpg. I used ACC, tire pressure was at 36, Eco button was on.

Are these tires known for having less fuel efficiency or was this just a fluke?

Re: Michelin Premier MPG Decrease?

That's strange Premier LTX is considered a low rolling resistance tire and the Forteras are not so theoretically it should get better mileage. Your cruising speed was the same? that's a pretty big mileage difference.

Re: Michelin Premier MPG Decrease?

Absolutely nothing was different. I wasnt speeding and I used ACC the entire time. I thought it was a drastic difference too but cant seem to figure out what would be causing such a decrease

Re: Michelin Premier MPG Decrease?

yeah that's a strange one, batch of crap gas maybe? Id try to replicate it again next time you go, once could be a fluke but not 2 or three times. hope that's just a fluke as that is a sizable difference

Summer blend top tier gas made my mileage go down also. Only thing I can think of. Sorry for off topic
