Michelin Tire "heads up"....
For anybody thinking of, or needing Michelin Premier LTX tires, in the 265/60/18, here's a "heads up".
I've been considering them, for my GC, for summer use, but as we all know, they're pretty pricey. I've been hitting any website I could, doing price comparisons. Today, for some weird reason, I hit the Sears website, and got a real surprise!
They have the tires (the V speed rated ones, no less) advertised at a very low price of $208.50/ea,, as a 4th of July promotion, but there were a couple of "add-ons" like installation and wheel alignment, as part of "the deal". I've seen this before, they give you a "rock bottom" price on the tires, then make some of it up with additional charges.
However..... I said to myself, "nothing ventured, nothing gained", so for grins I called their 800 order number, and asked their sales rep if I could buy just the tires, and side-step the "add-ons", because at this point I haven't yet obtained a second set of wheels to mount them on (which is true). She said "sure", so off we went, and I placed an order for 4 of the tires. They're supposed to be delivered to my local Sears store next week. Furthermore, if I read the initial invoice they e-mailed me correctly, I'm also eligible for the $70 Michelin sponsored rebate.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed, that this works out as planned, but thought I'd pass this on, as some of you might be looking for a deal, and want to give it a try............
