Smile Michlen LTX M/S2 Update.......FYI

Well it's been almost two years and I have driven a full 40K miles on my LTX M/S2 tires, and without a doubt, the best tires I have ever owned. When they were new they had 11/32" tread, and now 40K miles later it measures 8/32 exactly. They have been rotated every 8-9 thousand miles and are worn perfectly even. From a distance they still look like new tires. Still smooth as glass on the highway at any speed, and very quiet. I have always replaced my tires between 40 and 45 thousand miles but these look like I will get another 20K or more before I start to think about changing them out. I plan to keep the car another 4-5 years so I'm sure the next pair will be the LTX M/S2.

i got 70K from the first version twice. Im currently on the 2nd version with about 40K and there is plenty of tread left. this is on my XJ. I do have some cracking on the sidewall but it sits in the sunlight so thats probably expected.

Phenomenal mileage!

I have 8/32 & 9/32 on the OEM Forteras in just under 11,000 KM.

I love Michelin tires. Can't wait to change out the crappy Fortera's in the Spring.

Re: Michlen LTX M/S2 Update.......FYI

As far as cracks, I have None. However the jeep is Garaged every night I have owned it except for our trip out west (3 weeks), and our trip to Florida (2 weeks). I use regular Armor All on them, none of that high shine stuff. Cold pressure I keep at 34/35 psi. and on the Highway it works its way up to a hot 38 psi. They really are nice tires. When I get an oil change they blow those tires way up, so when I come home the first thing I do is knock them back to 34 psi. I like that pressure because it makes the ride a bit smoother and you don't feel every bump or crack in the road yet they don't squeal around a corner.

With a tread wear rating of 800 I'm a little concerned about snow performance but it seems they do alright?

I used them for several years in the California/Nevada Sierras, where it was largely that wet sloppy snow mainly, and every now and then [e.g. last weekend] get caught with an early Colorado mountain snow before I swap over to dedicated winter tires. Work like a charm--really really good traction. They also have much better wet traction at colder temps than most "all season" tires.

Re: Michlen LTX M/S2 Update.......FYI

Had them on my 2011 wk2 for over 50,000 miles. Excellent in all respects except hard packed snow/ice on cold days. High mileage rating warrants hard rubber therefore no snowflake/mnt rating.

Re: Michlen LTX M/S2 Update.......FYI

I only have about 4K miles on my M/S2s, heading into the first winter with them.. so far I'm quite happy with them on the road.. they were a nice ride to Carlisle and Woodward

Re: Michlen LTX M/S2 Update.......FYI

I put well over 100,000 miles on a set of LTX M/S on my Dodge Durango. When they wore down a bit I purchased a set of Michelin winter tires and kept the LTX M/S for summer use. In total I put over 160,000 miles on the Durango on just the two sets of Michelin tires.

It will be back to Michelins when the Forteras wear out on my Jeep.

Re: Michlen LTX M/S2 Update.......FYI

WOW !!! That's incredible !! I thought it was just me telling myself how good they are. So I looked at the paper work from the dealer where I bought them and they had filled out a sheet with all the info about the tires and that's where I saw the tread depth 11/32 new. When I measured 8/32 a week ago I figured I must be wrong so I checked and sure enough. 40m miles on only 3/32 tread. A few of you were wondering how they were in the snow. With 4x4 on my jeep they were fantastic. That's no exaggeration for I lived in Buffalo for 64 years and I do in fact know what good traction is. Of course they do not compare to snow tires, but I have to say for a four season tire they are very good in snow. Hey David360,100m miles on a set is really something.
