Moab wheels on a WK2?

Hi! I'm new here. I traded in my '06 KJ Renegade for an '11 WK2 Laredo X Hemi two weeks ago. I love it. One thing I don't love is the crappy Michelin tires that came on it. And the 18" wheels will make buying new rubber an unpleasant experience. For reference, the 265/70/16's I like are $129 each. The same tire in 265/60/18 (stock size) is $179. That's $200 more for four tires.

I like the 16" Moab wheels that came on Wrangler TJs, and I've seen them mounted on lots of other Jeeps - XJs, ZJs, KJs. How can I find out if they'll fit correctly on my WK2?

Here's a pic of the new ride:

16" wheels that fit on the wk are very rare. The WK has pretty good size calipers and the calipers on the wk2(2011) look very similar if not the same. Pull one of the fronts off and give it a try. Youll have to be the guinea pig on this one

Re: Moab wheels on a WK2?

Geez, you guys are quick. I was off reading something else and remembered one of my initial reactions to laying eyes on the WK2 was, "Those brake rotors are frickin' huge!" For that reason alone, I don't think 16's will fit on it. The new Moab wheels on the JK are 17's, not 16's, likely for this same reason.

Oh well, less sidewall does make for a nice commute through the twisting country roads.

I did have it off-road already. Well, rough-road. I had to climb a 1000' double-track ascent covered in loose dirt and rock, then down the other side of the mountain. I left the select-trac in "auto" and it performed flawlessly. Never needed low range and didn't set it to Rock or Sand/Mud.

Re: Moab wheels on a WK2?

I actually hadn't taken any pics of it yet, so I just ran outside to get some. Luckily I washed it & the truck yesterday after the Jeep went for a 1600 mile trip and the truck hadn't been washed since who knows when. Good time to take pics...

Re: Moab wheels on a WK2?

Don't change them, your 18's are sweet. The base 17, not so much.

I still love the 20s the most, however, but the 18s have really grown on me.

Re: Moab wheels on a WK2?

Yeah, the 18's look nice, but I prefer more sidewall as I do take my jeeps off-road. I'll stick with the 18's, though, because 17's won't save me any money when buying tires. The major savings come with 16" rims, which is also the ideal rim size for off-roading a 30.5" tire. Here's what I traded in:

Re: Moab wheels on a WK2?

I love that interior...looks so $$$ IMO!!!

I am sure if they fit, some member would buy your stock 18"s for their WK...keep us posted on the wheel/tire combo and good luck
