MY 2013 bad control arm?

Hi all and thanks in advance for taking a look here.

Well, I just got new tires (stock size) for my WK2 (MY13 Overland Summit, 20inch rims).

When I went to pick it up the Tire Shop noted that it did not align 100%. The drivers side front was off -2 in camber and they noted that the camber adjustment was maxed out. They said it might be an issue with a control arm and I should have it checked out.

So I when to my dealer right after to have them take a look. A few hrs later I get a call back saying my Jeep is ready. I ask what was wrong and they said that the control arm is with in spec so it will not hurt the new tires and is safe etc etc. But then he said that it looks like there is a new revision of the control that might fix the issue and he will look into this more on Monday and call me. He also noted the $90 fee for looking at it.

So I go and get my jeep loaded with questions. I get there and the service guy is gone (was like 10 mins to closing) and another guy gives me the keys and say no charge. Puzzled, but happy about the no charge I leave.


1) Has any one heard of this revised control arm or issue before?
2) Do you think it is odd that they did not charge me after all?

Does your Jeep have the Quadra-Lift suspension? If so, did the person attempting to align it, have the QL set in "alignment mode"? That changes the ride height, therefore it affects the alignment settings.

Good question. Yes I do have QL. I am not sure. but when I picked up my Jeep it was set to the highest QL setting.

I could be wrong, but I do believe that "alignment mode" is somewhere in the middle of the suspension travel. Before I bought my GC, I was working part time for Advance Auto Parts, delivering parts to the local shops and dealerships, so the guys at my local MoPar dealership all know me, and don't chase me out of the service dept. When I took my GC in to have the alignment checked, as mine also had the "off center steering wheel" issue, I reminded the tech that mine had the Q-L.

He wasn't familiar with the touchpad, as mine was the first 2015 he had aligned, so he asked me to show him where this setting was accessed. After we shut the engine off, the vehicle sat for a minute, then we heard the suspension "hissing", and it settled a tad, into the "alignment height".

Thanks... thus far I have found on the MY 14+ there is an "ALIGNMENT MODE"...on mine MY13 (and MY 11 to 13 for that matter) I have read it needs to be in "Sport Mode".

Rigt now I am good as Jeep said the alingment was in spec. Next time I will have my shopr do it in "Sport Mode" and see if tehre is a diff.
