Need help finding 18x8 off road wheels

Hi all. I'm fairly new here, but long-time Jeep owner. I've had a 78 CJ, 89 YJ, 02 TJ, 98 XJ, and now my 2011 WK2 Limited with QDII. I'm a senior long-time member of another Cherokee site mostly devoted to XJ's.

I'm trying to figure out what to do on wheels. This will be an off road build, as apposed to a street build. There's tons of wheels out there, but I'm having a hard time finding some I like. Most I find are what I describe as "ghetto fabulous."

I'd like to find a 17 or 18 inch wheel that will clear my calipers, and stick to a 7.5 or 8 inch width. I want to use a set of Toyo Open Country ATII's in a 265 width so that I can still get the spare fully into the factory well and have the floor close all the way.

I have a set of 17 inch Moabs that I could run with 1.25" spacers, but I'm not sure I like the look. I really like the Pro Comp 7036 (Helldorado) wheels, but I don't know if 17' will fit without spacers, and the 18 inch version is at 9 inches wide; too wide for the 265's I plan on. Black Rhinos are out of my budget.

Anyone have any good suggestions in the $130 to $150 per wheel range? I plan on the RRO 2.5" lift if that helps anyone.

Thanks.

New member here too. I've been trying to decide what wheels to go with for my build as well (2013 JGC Laredo). Have you considered picking up a set of the newer model JK Wrangler Rubicon wheels? Tons of them on CL and Ebay from people upgrading their JKs with new wheels and the prices are in your budget. I believe they are 17x7.5 or 17x8. Some are graphite color and some are all black, or at least mostly black. Just a thought... I'm a fan of the look on the GC myself and will likely go that route. Good luck with your search.

Do you have the 3.6 or 5.7? If you have the 5.7 you won't be able to get 17" wheels - they won't clear the HD brakes.

Re: Need help finding 18x8 off road wheels

I have the 3.6. The Moabs without spacers only have about 1mm to 2mm of clearance right at the front. If I use those I planned to mount them with 1.25" spacers.

I'm really after a custom wheel. If they made the Pro Comp Helldorados in an 18x8 it would be a done deal. Most of the 18x8's I can find all look like they belong on some baller/gangster/drug dealer car.

Lisa, you'll probably have better luck getting an answer to your question if you'll start your own thread about it under the "Troubleshooting" section of the forum, instead of having it buried under (and hijacking) my thread that has a title about wheel sizes.
