Re: Need Some Tire Advice - Continental or Pirelli?

While I'm very happy with my NT421Q tires...no issues like you describe...I've heard good things about the Conti tires and am not really familiar with the Pirelli.

I currently have Nitto 421Q's and they are just not working out for me. I have not been able to solve the ride issue/vibrations at highway speeds and Discount Tire has agreed to swap them out for me.

Looking for a tire that is good on the road, in the rain and decent in snow (Michigan). Mild off road (hunting, 2 tracks, etc)

I've read lots of great things about the Continentals but not much info about the Pirelli's.

Thoughts, etc greatly appreciated!
Did you find a tire you liked yet?

I think your Cons and the Pirellis are totally different tires tbh... I went with yokohama top of the line performance tires and spent 1120$ on 4, as opposed to spending $2400 on 4 with Pirelli. I'm also directional tread, all seasonal, rated 60k miles. Pirelli is what 12-15k miles because softer and stickier lol

Re: Need Some Tire Advice - Continental or Pirelli?

I'm a new member here. Recently purchased a 2016 JGC Summit (5.7L) with Pirelli Scorpion Verde's. This morning during my 55 mile commute to work, mostly on freeways, it was absolutely pouring down rain. (Windshield wipers had to be set at max speed.) I found that the Pirelli's frequently tended to hydroplane and feel rather squirmy at times. Had to use both hands firmly on the steering wheel, and be very careful. Very disappointed with the Pirelli's today. When it comes time to replace these tires, it will be Michelins.

What pressure are you running those tires? It seems out of character to have a hydroplaning issue with them.

Re: Need Some Tire Advice - Continental or Pirelli?

While I've only had my Prielli's for a few days, I have been in some heavy rain and they were rock solid. And I run at 38psi cold. I can't imagine how "squishy" they would feel down at 35psi cold!!

But I'm connecting that to the fact that they are 20's and NYC road really beat up tires.

Well updating on my Continental after putting 12k miles on then I'm swapping them out for some Michelin Premier LTX tires. I start to hate how they felt like they disconnect from the road. Guys at the tire place suggested I wear them out as the still are pretty new but I can't deal with the ride anymore.
