New Tires

After driving through some flooded roads from hurricane Irene, 2 of the stock Fortera HL tires got punctured and I'm looking to replace with better tires if available.

Looking for the BEST all-season tire that fit 265/50/20. I've been exploring Nokian tires, but they don't make an all season in that size. I would love some suggestions.

Please help! Don't want to be sold tires that I'll regret.

Re: New Tires

I can tell you there are not a lot of choices in this size. I had switched my 20's to the Michelin Latitude HP's I would not suggest this tire for the jeep if you care anything about ride quality. I would stay away form any tire with a V speed rating as the sidewalls are stiffer. The Foterias are not the greatest tire but with what the choices are I can see why this is the OEM tire.

Re: New Tires

Hmm, interesting comment since I absolutely love the Tour HP's and think the ride quality is far better than the Fortera's. I suppose it's a personal preference. I also don't like the ride quality of any of the 18" wheeled vehicles I test drove because it felt too soft and disconnected. I guess if you want the soft ride of a tall, soft sidewall then the Tour HP isn't for you.

BUT, this is a moot point since the Tour HP in our size has been DISCONTINUED!

Hopefully some will start changing out to the other tires available in this size so we can get some real world reviews. Here's what I have used so far with a score from 1 - 10:

Fortera's - 7
Parada - 4
Tour HP - 9

Maybe the Kumho Solus KL21 is a viable, low priced alternative. I believe Jeep OEM's Kumho in some of their ROW models.

Re: New Tires

I would agree that if Handling is your only concern that the Michelin is the way to go and if you live in an area where all the roads are in good shape that tire would be great. The problem is washboard roads and this tire make it almost undriveable. I did still have a slight shiimy at highway speed also which I still don't understand because now with the 18's its completely gone. Even the 18's are only 60 series tires so I would not consider this a tall sidewall.

Re: New Tires

I'd look and see if the Nitto 850 Premium CUV's are available in your size, for they are an awesome tire for the coin. Try www.tirebuyer.com , that's where I got mine.
