New Tires

Recommendations for new tires? First SUV I have owned so clearly not familiar with what tires I should be considering. I live in Chicago so I would need all seasons. Looking for most comfortable ride. Thanks!

Re: New Tires

I just installed Firestone Destination A/T's on my '14. Mounted them letters out and love the look and ride of them. FS has a $70 gc rebate running right now too.

Re: New Tires

Going to assume that you run on the streets of chicago, and never venture off road so no reason to go All Terrain. For street tires:

Continental CrossContact LX 20 - Very comfortable and very quiet

Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S Plus - Just as comfortable as the Continental, but a hair louder (still quiet), bit better handling.

I have had both tires on my WK2, Don't have a preference between the two per say, but I will say the pirellis track better on the interstate and have a better steering feel, while the contis were sublimely comfortable and quiet. Both will get you through the winter as good as any all season will do, but they are no substitute for winter tires on snow.

Those would by my two choices. Bother have 65k + mile treadwear warranties so they will last a bit.

Re: New Tires

Thanks for the thorough response. Tire Rack reviews say the same and they give the slight edge to the Pirelli's. So definitely going with one of those two. Anyone else have experience with the following tires?

Continental CrossContact LX 20

Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S Plus

Re: New Tires

I bought my 2014 Turbodiesel JGC in November of 2013 and now have 72,000 miles on it. I am replacing the original Michelin Latitude Tours with Michelin LTX M/S 2.

Figured I'd stick with Michelin as I had good results with the first set.

Re: New Tires

As a Chicago native, I'd suggest Nokian WRG3. They'll go through snow that will stop all-season tires, which are intended for shallow snow. The WRG3 are year-round tires.

Greetings,

OP, if you are not doing any off-roading, then follow this advise.
The tire is worth every penny of it.

Best for now.

Yep. 10,600 miles from Nov. 2014 to date on WR G3 SUV's. Much better on ice and packed snow than Michelin LTX M/S 2's (still a great tire) on my MY11 WR2. "shallow" snow is a realtive turn. You know about the winter of 14-15 here in the Northeast! I was out in it everyday... get out of my way, I'm coming through!

Re: New Tires

Are these tires for 18" or 20" rims? I have 20" and can't wait to replace the stock goodyears that make the wk2 ride so rough, especially on Chicago roads. Plan to replace before next winter so I'll start taking notes now!
