The basis difference between the two drive systems is that the QT2 will allow one wheel on the axle with traction to slip. There are some videos on the Jeep site to explain the difference. If you're like me expect to watch them several times before the difference becomes obvious.

For the type of driving that you described the QT2 is more than adequate. Your choice is more dependent on the V6 or V8. The gas mileage difference is significant, and the V6 runs great on regular gas or E85.

Lot of erroneous information in this thread, just thought I wouldpick out this one piece of info. The Diesels definitely are sold with QD II.
Quadra-Drive II QD @ is sold on the diesel. As for the idea that they can't spin the wheels, the torque figures for the V6 diesel are very similar to the Hemi. Only the SRT 6.1 liter has more torque. 420 to 376.
