Hi Guys, I'm sorry if this has been posted...I have searched and searched, but have not been able to find someone with my exact issue.

I have a 2011 Overland in the NYC, with stock size 265/50/20, aftermarket rims and yokhama prada x tires. only 30k, I need to replace them.

I had another thread where someone suggested Michelin MS/2's, Firestone Destination LE2 but at the 275/55/20 size.

I have been told that there are pro's and cons about this size, but to be honest have been unable to distinguish what they are. To be clear, I do NOT do any off roading. I simply want a good all around tire.

1) Can someone tell me the advantages and dis advantages of moving to this size?

2) If I move to this size, do I simply buy the tire and have it mounted? Or do I need spacer/adapter?? (SOrry 1st time I have done this)

3) Is it safe to assume I will also have to change the tire on my spare as well?

As much as I hate to do this, the new size has SOO many more options for tires, that are WAY better.

I appreciate the feedback...Thanks!

1. To me the advantages/disadvantages are minimal, really a matter of personal preference. One disadvantage I know of it your speedometer will be 2 or 3 mph off with the switch. If it says 60 you're really going 62-63.

2. From what I've read that's the biggest diameter tire you can install with no issue and no additional hardware. Just plug and play.

3. That size tire won't fit in the spare tire well with the cover on.

You're right there are a million options at 275/55 and really very few at 265/50.

FWIW I went a tick larger tire wise with my WJ 245 from 235 and will do that same with the next Jeep. I like the slightly larger width/more aggressive stance.

Some here have done nothing but mounted the 275 on the stock 20" rim and they say all is well. Other's have put spacers on and/or done a RRO leveling lift in the front for some added wiggle room. If you have QL it will probably get very close at exit/entry mode. I'm going to be getting off the fence and probably ordering the Cooper Zeon LTZ. Besides the way it looks the benefit wil be more rubber less curb rash potentional and you'll gain I believe 3/4" additonal clearance over stock. Other's who have actually made the switch can probably advice better.

Ahhh, thats awesome.

Now the only thing I have to worry about is the spare.

As for the tire well, does anyone know what are the main issues? Will the tire fit, but the cover won't fit? or will teh tire not fit at all period?

I use a weathertech trunk liner....If the tire sticks up a "little" then I can probably come up with some other way to fit the lid....
