Re: Nitto Terra Grappler 275/55/20

Anyone running these actually off-road with them? I took the stock 20s with Fronteras out to the desert and I need new tires now. Just wondering if these are good for moderate trailing running or if I really need to get a second set of wheels that are 18s.

I run mine off-road they are great for trail work, beach etc. hard core mud they aren't going to go that well. Expect a little bit more noise from the AT but the not that much. In saying that I think the G2 will be even quieter than the original.

I heard the G2's were a little taller. Is this true?

Can't see why, unless they have a deeper tread, then we are talking millimetres?

New to the forum & just installed a set of 275/55/20...discount tire was skeptical & said on a full hard turn the "slightly" touch the sway bar. They fit & look great & I don't feel or hear any rubbing at all!

Re: Nitto Terra Grappler 275/55/20

Your truck looks great with the new tires! I just had the same put on my 2012 Lorado, with a used set of 20" rims... I used the iphone WAZE app to measure the MPH difference - it appears that the odometer reading in my Jeep is 2-MPH slower. Now with the cold weather I am wondering what the optimal tire pressure should be set at - what did you set your pressure to?

Re: Nitto Terra Grappler 275/55/20

I've been driving with these Nitto Trera Grappler's and now the G2's for four years now and I have to say they are a great all around tire off road and on but ( with this size on our Jeeps ) they are the worst in the snow and Ice , I do a fair amount of off roading with my WK2 and they are excellent in everything but snow ! Due to the width and the lightness of our Jeeps , I would change these for anything else but I just wanted to give you guys my experience with these , I will be looking into so tire chains just for the rear (for off road ) purpose only m

Thanks for sharing your experience! I live in NYC so most of my driving is on the city streets (occasionally suburban streets). The most common snow conditions we experience here is a dusting (usually ices up), 3-6 inches and sometimes 12-18 inches. How do you feel the Tires would handle these conditions?

Re: Nitto Terra Grappler 275/55/20

Again I do love these tires but don't let the aggressive tread pattern fool you , on these and or any other tire in this size for our WK2 , its the width that kills the traction in SNOW , I do like these for all other conditions and I dont think any other tire in its class would out preform them other that a snow tire , So to answer your question I would still use them as I do but dont assume they are a supper all terrain tire

Re: Nitto Terra Grappler 275/55/20

^^^ - Even GY Forteras are pretty wide, and they manage to get around in snow if driving carefully. Can't imagine the Nitto G2's being worse than that.
