Re: Nokian WR G3 SUV

Greetings,

It is very possible that WR G3 SUV has some form of the new Aramid sidewall technology. Their is a video in the below link showing the technology in action.

Nokian zLine SUV summer tire – cool performance and extreme durability for SUVs / Nokian Tires

Best is to confirm this with Nokian. I do know that with Rotiva AT, the sidewall held up very well with all those winter potholes.

Best for now.

He told me they were very good in snow. (They have the severe service emblem, i.e. snowflake/mountain symbol).

Re: Nokian WR G3 SUV

First real snow of the season, well rain, sleet ice and snow... I couldn't be happier with the WR G3 SUV. This is my fifth Jeep i've owned and probably the best one for traction. My 93 Grand V8 was very good and my 97 Grand V8 was not so good. The 2012 Grand Hemi is wonderful in the snow. I'm sure the tires have a lot to do with it but the traction control programing, Ratio front to back is very good. Oh, stopping is very good to... Thumbs up for Nokian...

Greetings,

I am gland you like them. As a first time user of Nokian after everybody and including my European Friends who used over their told me to go for them, I am also extremely happy with them. I have the Rotiva AT.

Happy trails and safe winter season.

Best for now.

Re: Nokian WR G3 SUV

How do the Nokian's hold up in hot dry summer heat like we get in the Midwest? Figure 90-100 for 30 day's or so, 80's the rest of the summer.

Thx!

I live in the Midwest(WI) and had one of the first sets on here. I've been driving with them since February. I have 20K miles on them now and about 2/32 to 2.5/32 of wear.

We had the same 3 day storm and I was out in the worst of it each day. I agree with everything you wrote. The advantage of the WR G3 SUV over the Michelin LTX M/S 2's I had on my 2011 Grand Cherokee comes down to the softer compound which improves ice handling by a wide margin. The LTX's will give longer wear though. We have used the WR G2's on our Subaru since 2012 and they are wearing well through all year and temperature use, though we only see 100F very rarely.

Re: Nokian WR G3 SUV

How are the WRG3 SUV tires in light off road? Gravel, grass, maybe some wet dirt (but nt necessarily mud).

Wondering if I can get by with these or should I get the rotiivas for my infrequent and not so aggressive off road excursions.

Greetings,

I asked that question to Nokian a while ago, they do not recommend them for off-road activities.

The regular gravel road should be fine as long it is not of the large 1 inch or better type. Here is were Nokian warns people. This due to softer compound and has limited stone ejection properties and puncheon resistance. Otherwise from your list you should be fine.

With regards to winter driving the Rotiva does a very fine job, but it does not have the gripping power of the WRG3 SUV. The gripping power will help with the various ice conditions. Their were some cases of black ice that I had problems with but the Rotiva does dig in shortly. As always you have to judge your speed and corning.

Best for now.

They are good for light off road. I have done gravel roads, wet dirt and wet grass.
For aggressive off road I would suggest an A/T tire such as Notian Rotiiva A/T.

Re: Nokian WR G3 SUV

I have a set of the Rotiiva (1000 miles) so far they have been good. On road is great, dirt roads (fire roads) have been good too. Haven't had a chance to really test them in the snow yet however.
