I switched from Latitudes to LTX M/S 2's last October. They are comparable to the Latitudes for gas mileage and road noise. While not classified as an A/T as the GY Silent Armor is, they are more versatile than the Latitudes.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

Just a word of warning, I am now (still) fighting with both Jeep and Michelin about the tires delivered with my JGC Overland with the off road package. I am down to 40% of the tire life left after 24,000 miles. The tires are rated to 65,000. After contact with Michelin they have told me that I have voided the warrantee by driving the tires off road as they are not off road tires (old story as you all know). The fact that Michelin is saying that it is VOID really really bothers me. The reason I purchased the Off Road package is because I live off road with a minimum of 10 miles a day off road (dirt and gravel roads).
If you rake them to a Michelin shop to cover the excessive wear do not mention off road and they will take care of you under warrantee.
Good luck

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

That is correct. I'm in the process of picking out wheels and tires for mine.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

And the saga concludes....

Last week we finally came to a fix between Michelin and me via Big-O tires. Michelin provided a 50% discount on a new set of Michelin LTX M/S 2 tires in replacement for my well-worn Michelin Latitude Tours.

Although they offered the discount they did charge to ship the tires to the local shop at $15.00 per tire... Big-O was awesome about everything and helped with the long process.

This is the LAST Michelin product I (or any of my family) will EVER purchase. As a matter of fact, with the poor service from Jeep (Chrysler) for the tires and the on again, off again SIRUS/Travel link after purchasing their extended warranty this will most likely be my LAST Jeep purchase. I do miss my 2006 Hummer H3.

When you spend $50k on a vehicle you do expect a little more than a complete run around or being shoveled off to either Michelin or SIRUS for something that Jeep could take care of.

To anyone with the ORAII package and has the Tours with excessive wear here is some advice…. Have them rotated on schedule, have the dealer, Big-O or some other place document the tread wear and then keep on Michelin up to the 65k miles… and good luck.

Bottom line, Chrysler should have never sold those tires for the ORA II package.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

Once I took delivery of the vehicle and realized the tires were not what was advertised (not "on/off-road" but ordinary on-highway all-seasons), I immediately complained to the dealer and to Jeep. In my mind it was a simple case of the vehicle not matching the window sticker description.

It took about two months of polite but persistent arguing with the Jeep customer service rep, but Jeep ultimately agreed to replace the Michelins with a set of Goodyear Silent Armors.

All in all, I was happy with how Jeep handled the issue. I suspect that it is important to bring this up with Jeep / your dealer as soon as possible after taking delivery, since you have a less clear-cut case if you wait several months / several thousand miles.

This is a major event in this situation. Hopefully it will be standard for off road packages.

I don't know about wheels though, I don't like any of the wheels on Tire Rack when they are displayed on the vehicle. Hopefully in a few years when I am ready, they have more wheels and maybe a lift available for some bigger tires.
I have to drive off road for work at times so I told my dealer that he had to swap out the tires to make the sale- they did and based on TireRack.com I had them put on the Goodyear silent armor ATs. Very good tire!!! I have 50K on them now and I'm sure I can get another 25k on them. I used to have the Terra Grappler's on my 4Runner and they were SWEET!!!! Looked aggressive but also handled very well.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

As a follow-up....I swapped out the garbage tires at about 43K miles for the LTX AT/2s. I got a little discount, but the new tires still weren't cheap. I'm at about 65K miles now, and the tread wear seems much better...Only time will tell. The tread on these is warranted for 60,000 miles, slightly less than the 65k of the others, but I'm hoping for the best. If the tread does last on these until I'm at 105K total, than no more Michelins for me.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

Waking up this thread to see if Jeep is still using the Michelin Latitude Tour as the Off-Road Adventure II 18" tire in the 2014 Overland package. I'm about to order one, and if that is the case, I'll probably swap them out right away. Any preferences out there for a replacement that will wear well, be great in snow, and quiet on the Interstates? I've been waffling back and forth between the Michelin LTX M/S2, the Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor, and the Continental CrossContact LX20. If anyone has real world experience with any of these I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!

Greetings,

I just recently purchase the Nokian Rotiva AT to replace my BFG Rugged Terrain TA which replaced the Latitudes . So far, I have put about 500 miles since I got them 2 weeks ago. I have not taken them into deep snow, but, the slush, black ice and light snow has really impressed me . The BFG was a complete let down for me in the winter season. I am very confident that Nokian's in the deep snow should not have any problems. In terms of them being quiet, I have them to be smooth riding and quiet for an on/off road AT tire. In other wet conditions, the traction and braking is outstanding.

Nokian Rotiiva AT

Good luck with your purchase and best for now.

I had Michelin LTX ms'2 on my Trailblazer and they were very good in snow, others here also make this claim. The Lattitudes that come/came on my Grand Cherokee you will NOT like in snow, trust me, I tried and they were awful! Rain, dry, hot summer, yup they were good and also pulling my 21 foot boat up ramps etc. but scary (to me) on snow. Dave
