Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

My ORA I came with the Lattitudes. Nice quiet tire and they performed well in the Sierra snow so far. Off-road tires they ain't though. They should definitely upgrade the tire if they are going to call it an ORA package...that's just blatant misrepresentation and miserly penny-pinching. Off-road means "all terrain", not "M+S". Come on Jeep...

Performed well in the Sierra!?!?! I definitely do not agree with that. My first two weeks with the new WK2 and two weekends up to Tahoe made me change those tires. The latitudes were worse in the snow than some well worn Pirelli P6 on my Audi.

Needless to say, even the Bridgestone Dueler ATs that come stock on the JK were way better in Sierra snow this weekend!

What I negotiated was which tire they would use as a replacement. I opted for the GY Wrangler SilentArmor. It's a kick a$$ all season A/T tire that has the snowflake logo. 4 tires + installation was 1200$ for which I didn't pay a penny of. Go me!
What about M/S? If the tires have M/S (Mud/Snow) on them, they meet the requirements as snow tires here in Nevada. If the're A/T tires but are missing the M/S symbol on them, the NHP will stop you. My 35" Goodyear Wranglers on my Jeep Rubicon have the M/S on them and I've never has a problem with the NHP (Nevada Highway Patrol).

M+S tires are not legal for winter use where I live. Here is the law :

Quote:
  • Tires on which one of the following inscriptions appear: Alaska, Arctic, A/T or AT, AT/S, AT-S , Blizzard, Cresta, Ice, INSA T1, INSA T2, INSA TT770, LT, Nordic, Snow (but not mud and snow), Stud, Studdable, Studded, Studless, TS, Ultra grip , Ultratraction or Winter, or the icon representing a mountain with a superimposed snowflake.

I always thought it had to have the snowflake and mountain symbol to be considered a legal snow tire.
I cant ever remember seeing a tire without M+S.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

I will be getting a set of Wrangler Silent Armor's as soon as I pick up the GC. These Latitude TOUR's are definitely not an Off-Road tire of any sort.
I've had awesome experience with the Wrangler SA's. I use them on my GMC Sierra and have never had an issue in many driving conditions throughout Northern Alberta....WAAAYYYY north of the border. Ice, snow, mud(not real deep) all have been no problem to navigate. And the dry performance has been as good as the street radials my truck came with. All in all I think they are the best bang for the buck and they don't look horrible. Plus they are about the same price as the Latitudes, and are winter rated.

Great choice! I am loving my Wrangler SilentArmors so far. Amazing tire!!! Though they are noisier than the Destination A/T's I had on my Liberty. But the traction is far superior.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

Well I just ordered a set of Goodyear Silent Armor tires. Getting them installed tomorrow. I will try and sell the Michelin Latitude Tours on Craigslist.

I am paying $948 with a Goodyear rebate of $160 so the total cost is $788. That's out the door with mounting, balance and tax.

I may add Goodyear's Road Hazard for $98 for the set.

I have not heard back from my dealer after being told that "they will check". The $180 rebate is over in a week or so and I didn't want to miss that.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

I am still having a heart ache with the Off Road II coming with MICHELIN Latitude Tour tires. They only rate a 5 of 10 for Off Road.

Performance Ratings: What's This?
Wear Life
9
Fuel Efficiency
10
Off Road
5
Braking
9
Comfort
10

Even if they would have put the LTX A/T2 on which are almost the same price in most places, they are rated much higher for off road but less for comfort.

Performance Ratings: What's This?
Wear Life
8
Fuel Efficiency
8
Off Road
10
Braking

Comfort

If you haven't taken delivery yet maybe you can make a deal for a swap.
