Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

Yes, that pretty much says it all - there is no question that we are paying for different tires but not getting them.

I suspect you are correct Walter that a class-action lawsuit is what it would take to solve the fraud that Jeep is doing - but who has the money to do this? Obviously Jeep knows a suit is not likely, and it does show what they think of me as a customer.

You don't need any money. The law firm gets paid only if they win. Firms love class action suits because they stand to make a small fortune

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

So this story goes on

Dealer got no help from his zone rep (who took my info and said he would take care of it, but never followed up with me), but the sales manager asked me to call the Jeep hotline. Did that and they told me that it was clear the vehicle should have on/off-road tires, and to tell the dealer to "fix it". They were cheerful about it. I think I had gotten a very sincere but young hotline person.

But I took the advice back to the sales manager at the dealer, and today the dealer's service manager emailed me asking me to call the hotline back and open a case and get a case number. Called the hotline, and discovered I already had a case number due to filling out the online satisfaction survey and mentioning the tires. There is even a specific person with a real name who is my "case manager". Unexpected, but nice. He is going to follow up with the dealer's service manager directly.

So my humble advice to anyone who cares about these tires is to keep after Chrysler, and let's see what happens. At least they are seeming to take the issue seriously... now Chrysler needs to step up and authorize a swap.

More news as it happens... on... As the Wheel Turns.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

For those that were looking for the details on the different tires I have provide some reference material for you.

I too am dealing with the customer service. I do hope they sort it out some day as I drive several miles a day off road to get to work and come home from work and these tires are just not going to last long.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

Could somebody post the phone number that we should be using to contact the correct customer service center? It may help with future complaints about the tire "bait and switch" Thanks to all for bringing this to our attention. I never guessed that the tires were not the ones listed on the window sticker.
Thanks

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

The number is 1-800-992-1997. Select the menu option for "New Vehicle Problem" (as best I recall). My humble advice: be polite, be clear about what you want them to do, and insist (if necessary) that they open a case and give you a case number. By now I suspect this is a known issue and they have a defined path to handle it.

Somebody there gets their performance reviewed on how many open cases they have, and how long they take to close a case, and that is a good incentive to them to resolve things.

You should expect to get a call back from the person assigned to your case as the case manager. You should expect to get their first name and direct extension number to call if you need to talk to them.

It may be useful if you have your selling dealer's service manager's name, as they appear to be handling this as a service issue.

Hope this helps.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

For the Overland with Off Road Adventure Group II, Iíve considered the following.

Replace the P265/60R-18 OE tires with BFG All-Terrain KOs in LT245/70R-17 mounted on the 17 inch wheels that come standard on Laredo.

These two tires are almost EXACTLY the same in overall diameter, tire + wheel radius and in revolutions per mile. Of course, the BFGs are 20mm narrower, but 245s should be plenty wide for off road gripping.

Since the wheels already come on Laredo, they should fit on Overland or am I missing something?

Thanks.

I don't think any new cherokee comes with 17" wheels. I could be wrong though. I have heard that 17's will not fit on the Hemi because of the bigger brakes, they probably fit the v6 model.

The Grand Cherokee brochure says the Laredo comes standard with 17-inch Cast Aluminum wheels, but I didn't realize these would be for the 3.6 L engine and that the 5.7 might have bigger brakes. Guess I'm back to those ridiculous Michelin OE tires. Thanks.

Yes, I'm pretty sure most (if not all) Hemi equipped JGC's have the larger HD brakes which will not fit with 17" wheels.

I went the route of upgrading tires and wheels at the same time (didn't like the painted 18" wheels... and of course didn't like the Michelin Latitude Tours).

I opted to purchase a set of 18" Jeep JK Wrangler Sahara wheels w/ the stock 255/70/18 Bridgestone Dueler AT tires. I scored all five matching wheels/tires from a local guy looking to swap his out. In my opinion these wheels with the 32" AT tires really look good on the JGC. I think Jeep should have put this combination on from the factory!
Yes, I do give up a small amount of tire width (0.4"), but I plan to go with 275/65/18 AT tires when the Bridgestones wear out.

There are options out there. It would have been nice if Jeep put some decent AT rubber on from the factory like we were lead to believe. Although I still did not like the 18" painted wheels.

Do you think the BFG KO 265/65R-18 would fit the Sahara wheels? I'm trying everything I can to stick to the BFG KO.

Thanks for your help.
