Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

Just got off the phone with a Michelin rep and he stated why would they put that tire on that truck, he said the Michelin Tour is good if you are driving on a flat gravel road other than that he said the tires are not made for off roading.
He did say its a great all season higway tire for noise and comfort, but not made for any other type of driving.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

The rep from Chrysler finally called me and stated that these are the factory tires that come with the truck. I told her that they are all season touring and that Michelin states they are not on/off road tires. The rep said I am sorry but there is nothing I can do, I can give you free oil change if you like. I replied no thank you, you can keep your free oil change and that I want for the record that this will be my first and last Chrysler product and that I am leasing and in a few years will be bring my business to another company.

^ Seriously.... over tires dude? Send me a picture when you get that thing stuck as I doubt you will. Just spend the extra bones to get the tires you want put on and stash or sell the factory skins. It's not worth getting pissed about.

x2

even if Jeep put BFG all-Terrain tires on it people would bitch that they are not Dunlop All-Terrain tires.

I have a Hemi with the off-road 2 and the Latitude tires. I have no problems in mud, wet grass, hills, etc... If I wanted a rock crawling jeep, I would have bought a Wrangler. These tires fit 99.5% of the intended audience of the Grand Cherokee, the other 0.5% can/should go buy what tires they want because Jeep could never guess what each individual is going to do with their vehicle.

Maybe Jeep can have a tire option and you can select what tires you want when ordering and add the fee in there - oh wait, it would be just as easy for the individual to go to a store and get what they want anyway, nevermind.

I also don't feel mislead or lied to about the tires. I have driven my Jeep off-road, so the tires they put on must be on-off road tires.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

The man paid extra for the off-road group and got street tires, so why shouldn't he be pissed? You are happy with what you x3 guys got, great. Telling the op he should be happy he even got tires is lame.

Speaking of BFG, the All-Terrain KO in 265/65R-18 does fit on the stock wheels according to the service rep at my dealer. It also provides 1/2 inch increase in ground clearance. That's the way I'm going when my Overland arrives.

Re: Off-Road Adventure II Package Tires

Seriously don't get how some defend Chrysler's decision to put the Latitude Tour in the Off-Road Adventure Pkg. It is a nice tire...that is not the point. The point is that the package was advertised with On/Off-Road tires...you get to pay extra for the On/Off-Road tires, and the Latitude Tour is not On/Off-Road...not by any reasonable standard.

Fortunately for me, my service manager is very much into tires. He is in complete agreement with me, that Chrysler should have never included the Latitude Tour in the Off Road Adventure Package. He is battling on my behalf with Chrysler customer care. We'll see how it turns out.

And I seriously don't get why it bothers people soo much. You knew going in that these tires were standard. Before you sign the papers, you go and look over the Jeep and make sure it is right. Signing the papers and going to numerous message boards and bitching about tires seems odd to me. If you wanted it changed, you should have declined to take the vehicle and got the "issue" corrected.

It looks like some people are saying they will never buy a Jeep again because of this. If it bothers you that much, why take the vehicle in the first place?

And these tires tackled the trails to get a "Trail Rated" badge, that's good enough for me.
