Re: Off Road Implications with 275/55/20 tires

I've had no, none, nada, zero rubbing over any bumps, dips, potholes, etc. The Zeons 275s do not rub anywhere, and I'm on the std non-adjustable heavy duty (Hemi) suspension. Now, this is as far as the Zeons are concerned; other tires may be sized a bit differently even with the same 275/50R20 listed size. I like the extra sidewall height and they're smooth and even wearing set at ~32psi. Bring on the speed bumps no worries!

I cannot speak from experience as to Nittos other than when I did my research, they were repeatedly listed as very very noisy. Noise is subjective. My Zeons do have a mild hum vs Forteras, but nothing like a mud tire and definitely quieter than BFG ATs, FWIW.

Check out this tire calculator: Tire Size Calculator

Plugin your 275/55/20 and the 275/65/18 and the 18 has only an inch more in sidewall height at 7.04 inches. Hey, it's only an "inch" but I'll take it.

Have you done any off roading in the duratracs yet? Any rubbing?

Re: Off Road Implications with 275/55/20 tires

So far just a little off roading in the Eastern Sierra on two track forest services roads in the mud and snow up to about 14" deep. Suspension settings were in Auto (normal ride height) and in ride height setting "1". No rubbing. Tires grip very well, even on the mountain roads that get bladed but ice over.

Have not been in any conditions that required ride height "2" (the highest setting) and Rock mode yet, as this would be were the suspension would get flexed the most.

Re: Off Road Implications with 275/55/20 tires

Does anyone know if the Nittos and Zeons have the same OD. Is one slightly smaller than the other?

I believe the Nitto is 31.8" a 1/10" smaller than Zeon which is 31.9"

Re: Off Road Implications with 275/55/20 tires

Thanks CC, I guess that's pretty much the same. Switching gears I had emailed RRO about the leveling kit and warranty and they told me that have of the kits are shipped right to dealers and installed from there so should be good with warranty. Where do most of you have the kit installed, tire shop, general service, or dealer. In terms of spacers did they do that as well or is that something most do themselves?

Re: Off Road Implications with 275/55/20 tires

I had the LTZs installed yesterday on my 2013 overland with leveling kit. They rear rubs on the fender well liners. Still looking for a solution. 2011-2012 don't seem to have the same issue.

Re: Off Road Implications with 275/55/20 tires

HtownBB I noticed on my 2014 limited the liners are away some from the fender. I could push on them and there seems to be space between the liner and the fender. I wonder if this can be adhered closer to the actual fender to give more space. On another subject did you have the level kit installed somewhere? Did you order online and then bring it to an installer?

Re: Off Road Implications with 275/55/20 tires

Yes, I was thinking about trying to push the liner in more to keep it from rubbing. I got the RRO lift from RRO. Took it to my installer and he put it on no issues. He was not aware that there was a lift for the newer JGC.

Did you ever adjust your liner? I've been trying to figure out a plan for mine, see this forum:

Same question -- did you figure out how to fix the liner situation? See this forum for details:
