OME Strut/Springs

I am putting an OME lift on my Commander.
After going through finally getting the old lift and hardware off, I went to
compress the springs to assemble the new struts. The spring compressor
was too small to lock in the springs. The diameter of the spring was too
big for the compressor. Mr tire was kind enough to compress the spring
for me, I will get them back this afternoon, but

will I need to compress the springs again to install the strut back on the Jeep?

Almost wish I hadn't started this....It began at 10am last Sunday.
