Oversize Spare Tire??

I am looking to go with a set of 275 55 r20 Cooper Zeons and am wondering how I go about getting a spare wheel to match the new diameter. Those of you that have made this switch, what did you do? Did you get a new tire and rim from your tire vendor?

I have the same size spare as the 4 reps. So I have a winter set of 5 and a summer set of 5.

This also gives chance to oil and work the winch that holds the spare up

Re: Oversize Spare Tire??

Right, sorry maybe I asked the wrong question, what I meant was the emergency spare for use when a flat occurs during regular on road driving. The steel wheel and tire is based on the typical over all dia that jeep puts on all wk2s but if you upgrade to a 55 series then what?

Sorry , that is the most I can tell ya. I bought 5 rims with 5 tires . This way you are not screwing around trying to match the diameter .

I am not home. To look at the wk2. Do they use a donut style spare. If they do , you would still have to match the diameter

Re: Oversize Spare Tire??

The full size spare in the Jeep is not a 20" wheel, it's actually and 18" wheel. I think its actually a slightly different size diameter when compared to the OEM tires as well (fractions of a percent type stuff though). I believe this came up before and the spare tire well will fit a slightly larger spare tire in it, but it doesn't fit a 20" spare.

I'd suggest reading around in the tire section, I believe this question came up in there already.

A P255/70/18 is within 1/10" of a p275/55/20. These are stock tires on Jeep Wrangler Saharas and are for sale very cheep because nearly everyone upgrades to larger tires.
