Plasti dip or painted rims

Heyall
Has anyone plasti dipped their rims? I'm going to give it a go this weekend; do 2 at a time, remove them, pressure clean them, mask and cover the tyres, then give 2 to 3 light coats. Any other suggestions?
I dont mind if it takes me 2 weekends to do.

Umm light coats spaced about 5 to 10 mins apart till you cant see the original color on the rim.. should take 2 to 3 light coats.. then 3 more even heavy coats spaced 20 or so.. PD is pretty forgiving but avoid staying in one spot for to long. If you want to add gloss or metallizer then its after your done with the base coats.

Use tape and paper or ive seen people use playing cards to keep it off the tires. You could even just let it go on the tires and peel it off later. Choose your method and should turn out pretty good. Also plenty of videos on Youtube if you need it.

Plasti dipping my wheels 6 months after I bought my overland made my car feel new again. completely different look. I'm not going back to the silver wheels. They look like every other JGC on the road.

I dont mind if it takes me 2 weekends to do.

I've done several sets of wheels. I've done some on the vehicle and some off. No preference or improvement either way. Just mask your brakes. I would use a can per wheel with several light coats waiting 10 or more minutes each coat. Don't bother taping or masking the tires. Apply a nice coat of armor all on the tires being careful to keep it off if the wheels and spray away and wipe off later the plasti dip will not stick to the armor all. The excess will peel off. after it dries. Sent pics. I have one vehicle going on two years with no issues.
