Why do you wish you'd done semi-gloss? I'm looking at powdercoating and am trying to decide between gloss and semi-gloss.

Re: Powder coated 20" factory wheels

I paid 260 for all four. Helps to have a friend who powder coats. 😀

When you do gloss it has a shinny / plastic look or it looks like the Altittude wheel. Wanted a higher end / aftermarket feel to the wheel. I added the black Altittude center caps and black lug nuts to finish off the look. It came out great!

Re: Powder coated 20" factory wheels

Makes me question buying gloss black wheels now. I dont think I have found any semi - gloss wheels for sale. Only gloss and matte black. And I dont want to buy new wheels then powder coat to get the right color. Not sure if I'm a fan of matte black wheels with the brilliant black paint

My guy did mine semi gloss. Personally, I wish I would have gone with gloss black.

Re: Powder coated 20" factory wheels

On another thread I have been given the opinion of going gloss black also. They gave the same reasoning that you did ... that they went gloss black instead.

Re: Powder coated 20" factory wheels

Did someone say "higher end".
IMO the gloss is classy and the satin/matte are more sporty.

Does gloss black paint on a car look like plastic? Come on!

Gloss black paint on a car is a lot different the gloss black powder coating. In my opinion, the Altitude wheels have a cheap, or plastic, look. Great for you average consumer but not an enthusiast.
The semi-gloss powder coated wheels has a custom feel that does have a high end look.

I'm fairly positive the wheels are painted. Not unlike a gloss black car.
I guess im not an enthusiast because I have aftermarket gloss black wheels and neither is the Lambo owner in the pic I posted. Oh well.

Re: Powder coated 20" factory wheels

After looking at more semi gloss, I have to agree with the above. Semi gloss doesn't give the look I want with the black of my jeep. I think the gloss will look better and cleaner. To each his own I guess.

I know early someone said mid 30s for offset sticks out too much. What offset would be flush with a 20x9 wheel. I'm ok with a little wider, but not too much.
