Re: Quadra Lift Air Suspension Failure

3 years/36,000 miles is the max I think I will drive this GC. I love it, but too much technology for my taste. Then again not sure there are any vehicles without it anymore that I would actually want to drive.

Hey Dallas,

I get where you are coming from. I picked up my Overland used for the features that it had, now I wonder if the choice was sound.

There is no way of getting rid of the tech unless you purchase an older vehicle or going straight into a Willy's. To many people today rely on the tech and the manufacturers are all jumping on the tech band wagon trying to make their vehicles stand out.

I would have done the compressor work myself, with the help of my mechanic brother, but you need a "special" scan tool just to work with the suspension system. Plus the need for the ultra pure nitrogen into the system at 220psi.

I keep her for a couple more years before I move on, not sure if it will be another Jeep, but one thing is for sure, it will not have an air suspension.

Re: Quadra Lift Air Suspension Failure

Lifetime Maxcare, problem solved. No vehicle out there is going to be perfect. Look at Ford and their issues with Sync, Rover with their endless issues, VW, etc.

I'll stick with Jeep until they screw up the GC and turn it into a crossover. You get a lot of features for the price and the lifetime warranty can be had at a fairly decent price. I figure this...if I'm spending $50K+ on a car, another $2500 for peace of mind is pocket change.

That may be the case if you buy it brand new, not sure the cost if you pick it up used as I did. Honestly, I didn't know it was an option as I purchase my Overland at a Fiat dealership.

Don't get me wrong, the GC is a great vehicle and I love it. I've put a lot of miles on her and plan on many more. This was the only issue I had with her. I still think it was the result of an accident I had a few months back but the adjuster didn't see it that way.

An unlicensed illegal took a left in front of me with no time to stop. Their Focus was totaled and my GC received some front end damage.

Another thing to note.
I have 275/55R20 Nokian Rotiiva's mounted and when the suspension is fully down they still have clearance, a little but they still fit. :-)

Re: Quadra Lift Air Suspension Failure

Well I just got my 2012 Overland back from the dealer. They say my air suspension issue was a faulty control module. A new control module and $1820.20 lighter in my wallet and all seems as it once was. Hopefully this issue doesn't come back to haunt me again in the future.

Re: Quadra Lift Air Suspension Failure

Put my all seasons back on. Took the '14 JGC Summit out for a spin and the QL started to act up when I got back home. Was sure to set it in "Tire Jack Mode" when doing the change. Back end looks like it's being dragged around. Still under warranty but I'm getting my fill of having to go back as often as I do. Some of the other problems that my dealer got to use my Jeep to experiment on was;
-Rear shock towers needed replacing due to loud squeak.
-New water pump.
-Broken windshield washer fluid "T" fitting under the hood for driver side of the windshield.

All that just this year (2016). I really like my Jeep and I have a lot to brag about when telling friends/family/coworkers just how great it feels to drive, but Im starting to get a little embarrassed when I explain my experiences with it. My wife drives a 10 yr old civic. No problems. Makes me wonder.

I will just pray mine doesn't have any problems. Won't keep it long if it does. I miss the old days of cars.

Re: Quadra Lift Air Suspension Failure

I'll post back after the repair to let the board know what the issue was.

Re: Quadra Lift Air Suspension Failure

I guess it was too much to hope for. Not even a week after my repair, I'm getting system cooling messages again. I noticed it takes too long to raise from entry level height. It used to raise within about 150 feet not it seems to take a little less than a mile before it raises to normal ride height. It wouldn't go into off road 2 height, just said system cooling. When I park and I press to lower it says system cooling before lowering. I guess I have to take it back to the dealer. They assured me it was the control module and everything else was fine.

Re: Quadra Lift Air Suspension Failure

Dealer called me 5 minutes after they checked for any error codes. Told me that the rear passenger wheel ride height sensor had an error and all that was needed was just for it to be wiped. Done and done. She's been good since.

Re: Quadra Lift Air Suspension Failure

Got my JGC Overland back from the dealer again. They kept it overnight to see if it lost any air in the system. Everything checked out. The only thing they could find was my battery was a little low on volts. So they charged the battery and cooling down message went away and it seems to be raising and lowering in the proper time range. The only other thing they could think of is the compressor might be getting "tired" or "weak".
