Quadra lift & hitch height

I have an adjustable hitch. The GC is parked at it's lowest level (entry/exit). If I set the hitch height to have the trailer tongue level, it occurs to me that the tongue might rise as the GC goes to "normal ride height". Or maybe the suspension will detect the tongue weight and act accordingly. Just seems like any rise should result in the tongue riding with it and dropping the tail of trailer. I am talking unloaded utility trailer at the moment, but I will also be towing an enclosed 5x10 cargo trailer as well as a 22 foot travel trailer. Just trying to understand how this suspension thing works. Main goal is to keep the trailer level.

If I hook it up and drive a bit, the suspension will drop to entry/exit level when I stop to get out and eyeball things so I will be back where I started. Not clear if the trailer tongue will be level while underway.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Re: Quadra lift & hitch height

I would set it the ball height at normal ride height since that is where you will be when driving. The air suspension will compensate for the tongue weight and get rid of the sag.

The jeep will drop to aero mode on the freeway, but that is only a 1/2 drop at the ball and that is probably better for stability at speed anyway.

Check out Willx thread, everything you'll ever want to know about towing the TT with qudralift.

Re: Quadra lift & hitch height

It's best to have your JGC at "normal" height before you hook up a trailer and /or measure for proper height.
