Quadra Lift Controller

I recently picked up my new GC Summit only to have the "SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM IMMEDIATELY" warning come on.
On inspection by the dealer they inform me that the controller is faulty and it will be a 6-7 week wait to get a replacement shipped over from the States.

The dealer is telling me that they have attempted to replace the controller in the past from another vehicle, but found that the controller is coded to the cars on-board computer and therefor can not just be swapped from car to car?

Could someone please confirm that the Quadra-Lift Controller is actually linked to the Engine Management Computer or is just a excuse so they can leave me sitting with a faulty car instead of themselves?

Cheers
Mark

Re: Quadra Lift Controller

This is a dealer trick. Seriously, I hope you do not expect the controller to be factory coded for your VIN and for that custom job to take 7 weeks.

That the controller may be linked to and have to be programmed to shake hands with the rest of the on-board systems is both likely and expected, given the state of technology on these cars. But that doesn't mean that any "replacement in kind" taken from another Jeep cannot be made to work with yours. Dealers however will rarely if EVER compromise a car that they can sell for a customer who needs a part...

Re: Quadra Lift Controller

Thanks f1anatic, that's what I am thinking!

Can understand parts need to communicate with each other to function correctly, but saying that the unit needs to come from the supplier pre-configured for my car seems very unlikely to me.

Whether the dealer has the knowledge and capability to actually reprogram the unit after changing from 1 car to the other is a completely different thing!

Re: Quadra Lift Controller

Just had the exact same problem and the exact same solution explained. Mine short circuited on our delivery test drive. It's the second thing to go wrong and we haven't even signed the paperwork yet. Getting quite concerned. The dealer jacked up the Air Suspension at the lot and when we got it up to 70mph it never dropped. When we got back to the dealership it dropped to park level and wouldn't budge. Part should be in 3 days. Supposedly a 30 minute fix.

Re: Quadra Lift Controller

2 Weeks and still waiting for mine

Just annoys me that the Salesman knew there was an issue but pushed on with handing over the car to me.

Strange when you are being told that it SHOULD do this and it SHOULD do that but it DOES NOT - he still had the nerve to stated that it was working perfectly!
I should have listened to the gut and said no, I want it looked at before taking possession!

The Salesman seem to be all the same and that is COMPLETE the sale at all costs, leave the customer to deal with the issues

Re: Quadra Lift Controller

I will say our salesman was the first to notice it. The switch on back of the steering had to be replaced as well because it was randomly scrolling through the radio without even touching it. It surprises me the dealer doesn't do more of an inspection before a special order build is set to deliver. It only took us a ten minute drive and playing with the electronics to discover both problems. Sucks for you being so far away.

Re: Quadra Lift Controller

It really does suck!
Have been told that it is safe to drive while in this condition, but it just annoys me too much when I get the warning beeps and messages!

I also can not understand why vehicles are not given a more detailed inspection prior to delivery.
If I was going to issue something to one of my clients then I want to know for sure that it is in complete working condition!
Would have preferred for them to turn around and said that there was an issue and that the vehicle would be delayed by x amount of days, instead of lying and covering it up!
