Thanks for that. Perhaps I should have let the tired down a bit. With any luck, someone might come out with a stiffening kit for the Quadra-lift.

Re: Quadra-Lift Task Force!

I had a look under the rear and was pleasantly surprised to see a pair of normal looking sock absorbers. I had thought the damping was done by the air suspension. This means it should be relatively simple to stiffen the rear. Unfortunately the front has struts built into the air suspension therefor not so easy. If I continue to have the rear bottoming, I'll have to look into some stiffer after market shocks... or slow down... nah!

BobT, Try pushing up one level from normal on your ride height to Off Road 1, and then try that speed on that dirt road.

Re: Quadra-Lift Task Force!

When you raise the car the ride stiffens by itself, as there is more air pressure in the airbags.

On a side note, the jeep quadra lift system is copied from the Mercedes ML/GL Platform, on the Benz when you put it in sport mode (lower) it stays there when you turn the car off, same in off road 1, I'm sure that there should bea way to program the system to do that

Re: Quadra-Lift Task Force!

I don't know if the suspension is bottoming out when in off road 2. I think the suspension is very stiff in off road 2. The suspension is coming up very fast and topping out if that makes sense. Clunking on its way up not on the way down. Just my 2 cents, let me know if i'm wrong.

Reviews of the Jeep Grand Cherokee with Quadra Lift on Automobile websites that had long test sessions with it, stated the exact same thing as you have.

Re: Quadra-Lift Task Force!

As there are so many of us with quadra lift, it would be interesting what would be the implication of creating a 1-2"lift kit, will it be out of drivetrain component range at of road II and if so what parts would we need to swap?

Re: Quadra-Lift Task Force!

Hi Guys,
I've cut and pasted a post I added on our Aussie forum and just wonder if the wider masses have experienced this strange noise?

" I have an intermittent front end noise when stationary that can best be described as a mix between a "moan/creak/letting air out of a balloon slowly/sort of noise when you turn off a high pressure tap/horror film creaky door". I parked up today with the engine running after a spirited drive and it made the noise every minute or so. It's coming from the front and you can feel it significantly vibrate through the steering wheel. It lasts for about 1 to 2 seconds. I think, but can't be totally sure, it coincides with going into sport (lowered suspension) then back to auto before pulling to a stop. Drove home tonight in auto (normal height) without any dramas. It has done this since new (3 weeks) but am only getting a little concerned with it now. Is this normal? The air suspension works perfectly fine, going in and out of "aero" height automatically as it should etc etc..."

My friends Down Under reckon it could possible be a leak to the suspension, but it does operate fine at all heights? Any thoughts?

With the car raised there is really no more pressure in the air bags just more air. The pressure will increase only if the car is heavier. Raising the car gives more travel at the top but less at the bottom. The problem is that we don't know which height setting gives us the mid point in suspension travel. But in any case, I think the issue is more to do with damping rather suspension travel. Wouldn't it be cool if we could not only dial in the height to suit conditions but also the damping? That might be a few years away yet.

Re: Quadra-Lift Task Force!

The Discovery 3 and 4 owners have a couple of options for over riding the height settings. The LLAMS system seems to be the best option for them. It seems there is nothing (yet) for the Grand Cherokee. Hopefully...

I would like to be able to hold Offroad 1 and Offroad 2 at higher speeds.

Maybe we can lobby LLAMS to make a system for the Jeep???

Llams PTY LTD

Cheers
