Quadra what??

Iím curious as to folksí experience at dealer showrooms. Are most dealerships confused about their new product? I picked up a lot of solid facts on this forum and armed with this information and my IPod to tryout the sound system I went to a dealer to ask more specific questions.
Well they hadnít seen an Overland yet, OK understandable. Unfortunately I donít think the sales person I met was ever trained or given any information on the 2011ís. I described that I needed to drive in snow, ice, sand and mud but he didnít know the difference between Quadra Trac, Quadra Drive or even Quadra lift. I asked a question about the power tailgate but he had no clue there. Never did get to try out the I pod and didnít bother to ask about Harmonís or Garminís.
So plan B is to wait until January when the "late availability" dust settles, keep on this forum and just tell somebody what I want and how much I want to pay for it.
Any positive experiences out there?

Re: Quadra what??

I cannot stress enough:

Keep shopping around until you find a dealer that knows (for the most part) what they are talking about and is willing to order what you want and will sell below MSRP.

I drove to another state and am very happy that I did. You're the customer you run the show, remember that and you will have a good buying experience.

Re: Quadra what??

Your'e absolutely right. I'd have thought that with all the hype and this maybe being Chrysler's last shot they would have had all the details worked out.
It would be nice to know after shelling out 40K+ that you are getting exactly what you need and wanted.

Re: Quadra what??

You'll find variation between dealerships, yeah, but you'll even find huge variation between the different sales guys at a single dealership. Think about where you work. There are likely guys who are really good at what they do and like it enough to go out of the way to be as good at it as they can be. Then there are others that don't enjoy the work and just drift through it. There are salesmen that are really into cars and know all about the ones they're selling, then there are salesmen that just drift through it. You might even want to try the dealership another day and try working with a different salesman.

Well said. Modern cars have become so technically complex (and expensive) that, unless the buyer really doesn’t care, the enthusiast must do his own due diligence. The salesman’s primary objective is selling and, unless he’s enthusiastic about his product, he’ll try to do it with minimum effort and knowledge. Today, the Internet has better product info than most salesmen. Also, the purchase is but the beginning of life with your car. Unless you plan to do your own maintenance and repair, buy from a nearby dealer if you can. Mine offers free loaners to those that bought the car from them. Of course the quality of any dealer’s mechanics is anybody’s guess, until it’s too late.

That said, here's an answer to the subject question: http://www.jeep.com/en/4x4/how_syste...uadra_drive_2/

The biggest part of being in sales IMO is knowing your product. A salesman should find out what the customer wants and offer them the product that fits them best. How do you expect to sell something you know nothing about.

Another well said! I'd like to add that this product has many new features, and some new nomenclature that along with the confusion that persists among the included features, makes this a bit daunting to understand completely. Add in that many dealerships are now Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep, and there's lots of info to take in. The salesmen of most dealerships rely on the info being trickled to them from the sales manager, and you should understand that most of these salespersons have a lot on their plate. Yes, some can absorb the info at a greater rate than others!

Re: Quadra what??

Good points all. I am planning to check out a few different dealerships in the next week.
The frustrating thing is that I am very content with the service department at this dealership. I talked to my service guy and it doesn't matter where I buy it so I'm not committed to any one place.
A jeep dealership with loaner cars? Wow, that's a rarity.

Re: Quadra what??

I wouldnt rely on the most knowledgable salesman for any info. They are all pretty much scum in my opinion.....LOL. 2 of my last 3 cars I have purchased through the internet....no salesman to deal with

Re: Quadra what??

well said here in this thread dealers usually don't know jack when it comes to anything all they can calculate is on the go is how much commission they're gonna make while they're talking price with you that's all they're good for

IMHO I would stick with the info here build ur own on the web and then try finding one via internet or go in there and demand what you want

Re: Quadra what??

Some more answers for the confused. This info is a scan of a dealer document: http://209.128.70.155/JeepConfig.htm. I'm sure the brilliant brains on this forum can figure it out.
